Job description

Title: Mechanical Designer – Industrial
Location: Remote (Preferred: Lenexa, KS or Lone Tree, CO)
Hire Type: Contract to Hire
Salary: $35–$60/hr (depending on experience/location)
Benefits: Medical, dental, vision

Sterling Engineering is looking for a Mechanical Designer to support industrial projects. This role offers flexibility to work remotely or in-office if located near a preferred office location.

Job Duties:
  • Develop 3D equipment models using SmartPlant 3D or similar design software
  • Support early-stage project design and layout development
  • Create and modify P&IDs, schematics, and mechanical drawings
  • Perform 3D piping design and routing
  • Collaborate across project teams on a variety of industrial projects
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 4+ years of mechanical design experience (piping and systems)
  • Experience creating 3D models and design documentation
  • Knowledge of piping support design
  • Experience with data center mechanical systems (chilled water, CRAH, CDU) preferred
  • Proficient in SmartPlant 3D (preferred), AutoCAD, or MicroStation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Education:
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in CAD or related field preferred with 4+ years of experience
  • OR High School Diploma/GED with 8+ years of mechanical design experience
