Position Overview:

KULR Technology is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to support its fast-paced engineering team focused on lithium-ion battery safety, thermal management, and advanced energy systems. This role provides hands-on exposure to the companyโ€™s K1 and K1-DS development processes, where the intern will assist in design, prototyping, testing, and data-driven analysis.

The Electrical Engineering Intern will contribute to the full product development lifecycle of battery pack systems, supporting efforts from initial concept and design through validation and performance testing. Working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment, the intern will partner with electrical, mechanical, and test engineering teams while gaining practical experience with industry-standard tools, processes, and customer-driven engineering programs across aerospace, defense, e-mobility, and industrial applications.

Functions:

  • Support CAD modeling and design engineering for battery modules, electrical interconnects, and system components.
  • Assist with schematic capture, PCB layout reviews, and component selection to support electrical design efforts.
  • Participate in K1 and K1-DS prototyping processes, including hands-on fabrication, assembly, and iterative design refinement.
  • Build and maintain test setups, wiring harnesses, and prototype assemblies under engineering supervision.
  • Conduct electrical testing, data collection, and analysis for lithium-ion battery packs, including performance characterization and validation.
  • Assist in testing for thermal performance, safety validation, and overall system reliability.
  • Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis of electrical and system-level issues in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Document test results, design updates, and engineering findings to support internal reviews and customer deliverables.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software teams to ensure proper system integration and design alignment.
  • Maintain a safe and organized lab environment while adhering to all battery handling, safety, and testing protocols.
  • Contribute to customer-driven projects by assisting with development, testing, and delivery of custom battery pack solutions.
  • Cross-training. An engineerโ€™s educational activities are never completed and cross-training in other areas, mutually agreed upon by the engineer and their supervisor, will be required to further support Company needs.


Requirements:

  • Actively pursuing a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Foundational understanding of electrical circuits, battery systems, and energy storage technologies.
  • Experience with CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar) and basic engineering drawing practices.
  • Familiarity with electrical test equipment such as multimeters, power supplies, oscilloscopes, or battery cyclers.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret test data and propose design improvements.
  • Handsโ€‘on aptitude and interest in prototyping, assembly, and experimental testing.
  • Effective communication skills and comfort working in a collaborative team environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Foundational knowledge of electrical engineering principles, including circuits, power systems, and signal analysis.
  • Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, KiCad, or similar CAD software).
  • Basic understanding of lithium-ion battery systems, battery management systems (BMS), or energy storage technologies.
