Role: Senior Mainframe IMS/Application Programmer

Location: Austin, TX (100% Remote)

Duration: 5 Months

Summary:

The client services of one (1) Developer/Programmer Analyst, Level 3, hereafter referred to as Candidate(s), who meets the general qualifications of Mainframe Programmer specifications outlined in this document for the client.

Job Description

Performs advanced (senior level) computer programming in an IMS/application mainframe environment. Work involves overseeing programming projects, analyzing proposed applications, and designing software solutions. Works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment.

  1. Knowledge of modern programming languages is required to ‘translate’ how the batch code will be redefined in the new language.
  2. Ability to present findings of research in business terms clearly so requirements can be created
  3. Ability to diagram flow for the batch programs to enhance understanding of the overall process
  4. Hierarchal and Relational database knowledge required
  5. Ability to read schedules in JobTrack
  6. Ability to document those schedules by program groupings

Required Skills:

Required Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent related work experience.

5+ years of Required Detailed knowledge of developing and maintaining IMS/application mainframe applications

5+ years of Required CICS/BMS experience

5+ years of Required experience in COBOL, CICS, JCL, REXX, ISPF,  File-Aid or a similar product

Preferred Skills:

5+ years of Preferred Hands-on experience with Mark IV

5+ years of Preferred ISPF and other IBM utilities experience

5+ years of Preferred Experience with File Aid

3+ years of Preferred Experience with Expediter

3+ years of Preferred Experience with JCL

3+ years of Preferred IMS and VSAM experience

3+ years of Preferred Experience reading code, understanding business rules, and modifying programs based on user requirements
