What is remote compliance testing?

Remote compliance testing is a process where compliance assessments and tests are conducted virtually, rather than onsite, to ensure that an organization meets regulatory standards and industry requirements. This typically involves using digital tools to review documents, interview staff, and assess processes from a distance. Remote compliance testing is widely used in industries such as finance, healthcare, and information technology to maintain compliance while reducing travel and operational costs. It enables organizations to stay up-to-date with regulations even when physical access to facilities is limited. The approach is efficient, scalable, and often faster than traditional onsite audits.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote compliance tester, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Compliance Tester, you need a solid understanding of regulatory standards, risk assessment, and auditing principles, often supported by a degree in a related field and relevant certifications like CISA or CRCM. Familiarity with compliance management software, remote collaboration tools, and data analysis systems is typically required. Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and effective written communication are essential soft skills for accurately assessing compliance and reporting findings. These skills ensure that organizations adhere to regulations, minimize risk, and maintain trust with stakeholders while operating remotely.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in remote compliance testing roles, and how can they be managed?

Remote compliance testing professionals often encounter challenges such as coordinating across multiple time zones, maintaining clear communication with dispersed teams, and ensuring access to secure systems for testing sensitive data. To manage these challenges, it's important to establish structured communication channels, use collaborative project management tools, and follow strict cybersecurity protocols. Regular virtual meetings and clear documentation help ensure everyone stays aligned and compliance standards are met efficiently.

Job description

About Lovesac

We are a young-at-heart, fast-growing furniture company, dedicated to helping people fill their homes with Total Comfort. We do this by designing and innovating furniture solutions that are adaptable, washable, expandable, and delivered right-to-your-door-able, allowing our customers to live the life they want to live.

Our Designed for Life mission started with Sacs, a seat so much better than your classic beanbag made with repurposed Durafoam and designed to reduce environmental impact while providing unimaginable, cloud-like comfort. From there, we expanded the possibility for sustainable furniture with Sactionals, a customizable modular sectional that can be endlessly rearranged to evolve with you. Our product line has grown a lot since our Sacs days, but our goal will always remain the same - to create truly adaptable, comfortable furniture that can be with you for life.

About our Culture

At Lovesac, we strive to be an employer of choice by embodying a culture that encourages team members to think and dream big. We call this Top Ambition. We aim to not only excel within our industry but also make a meaningful impact on the world. Above all else, we're driven by love (because it matters) and are dedicated to promoting love and happiness in all aspects of our work. It's about success, of course, but it's also about making a positive impact on everyone our business touches.

About the Role

As our Manager, Packaging you will build, lead, and continuously evolve a packaging function that directly impacts Lovesac with every product we ship and every customer experience we create. This role sits at the intersection of product protection, operational efficiency, cost management, sustainability, and brand presentation. You will own packaging strategy and execution end-to-end, developing specifications across bulk production, warranty replacement, and final mile delivery; advancing our return to stock (RTS) packaging program as a critical company-wide initiative; managing domestic and overseas packaging supplier partnerships; and ensuring our packaging standards meet applicable regulatory, testing, and compliance requirements. Your work will influence damage rates, freight costs, vendor performance, restocking efficiency, and the way customers receive and return Lovesac products. This is an opportunity for a hands-on, business-minded packaging professional to do more than design a box. You will build a scalable support function, lead high-impact programs, and help shape the packaging experience for one of the most innovative furniture brands in the country.

This position is remote and will report into Lovesac Corporate HUB based in Stamford, CT.

Candidates must fully reside in the United States at all times during employment and should have the ability to travel as needed.

What You'll Do

  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve packaging specifications across bulk production, warranty replacement, and final mile delivery requirements, ensuring all packaging solutions are optimized for product protection, cost, and customer experience.
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of Lovesac's return to stock (RTS) packaging program, establishing standards, supplier partnerships, and workflows that reduce damage rates, improve restocking efficiency, and lower reverse logistics costs company wide.
  • Own packaging supplier relationships domestically and overseas end-to-end, from sourcing and qualification through ongoing supplier performance management.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and capacity commitments that support Lovesac's production calendar and cost targets.
  • Drive cost optimization across the packaging supply base, including dimensional weight (DIM) reduction, material consolidation, and freight cost mitigation, delivering measurable savings against defined COGS and packaging cost-per-unit targets.
  • Ensure full regulatory compliance across all packaged goods, including labeling requirements, material restrictions, import/export marking standards, and applicable certifications (e.g., Prop 65, CARB, ISTA, ASTM).
  • Develop and manage a packaging testing and validation protocol, including ISTA drop, vibration, and compression testing, to ensure packaging performance meets quality, safety, and damage-rate standards across all product categories and distribution channels.
  • Partner with Product Development, Quality Assurance, Brand, and the Sourcing teams on new product packaging development, ensuring packaging is designed and validated in parallel with the product development process.
  • Lead sustainability initiatives within the packaging function, identifying opportunities to reduce material waste and align packaging design with Lovesac's ESG priorities.
  • Monitor packaging industry trends, material innovations, and regulatory changes, proactively surfacing opportunities and risks to the Sourcing and Operations leadership team.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties for this role as requested by management.

Who you Are:

Core Values: Top Ambition, We All Win Together, Conscious Operations, Do Less and Do Best, Love Matters

Table-Stake Values: Willing to Sweep Floors, Grit, Positive, Self-Aware, Self-Starting, Insatiable Learners, Transparency, Customer-Centric

Core Competencies: Builds Customer Centricity, Drives Remark-able Results, Collaborates Effectively, Makes Good Decisions, Demonstrates Self-Awareness

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field required; advanced degree a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in packaging engineering or packaging development, with demonstrated ownership of packaging specifications, supplier management, and cost outcomes across multiple product categories or distribution channels.
  • Proven experience designing and managing packaging programs for e-commerce, retail, and final mile delivery environments, with a strong understanding of dimensional weight optimization and carrier compliance requirements.
  • Experience leading or contributing to return to stock (RTS), reverse logistics, or warranty packaging programs, with a track record of reducing damage rates and restocking costs at scale.
  • Working knowledge of packaging regulatory requirements and compliance standards, including ISTA testing protocols, ASTM standards, Prop 65, import/export marking requirements, and applicable material restrictions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage packaging supplier relationships, including qualification, vendor onboarding, negotiation, and performance management across domestic and overseas supply partners.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience building cost models, tracking packaging cost-per-unit, and delivering cost savings initiatives against defined targets.
  • Proficiency in packaging design and structural dieline tools (e.g., Artios CAD, CAPE, or equivalent); experience with PLM or ERP systems a plus.
  • Exemplify each of our Lovesac values, at all times, be results driven and utilize knowledge to meet or exceed key performance indicators (KPIs), goals and deadlines.
  • Must be able to travel using various forms of transportation, as required by the Company in its sole discretion, for mandatory meetings and conferences held either at our offices or offsite (i.e. quarterly team connection weeks, companywide meetings and events, vendor visits).
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally, as needed, to visit vendors, suppliers, and partners; a valid passport and any required documentation for international travel are required.
