Mental Journey Wellness Support is a community-focused health clinic dedicated to providing comprehensive mental health services to children and families. We specialize in Youth & Family Support Services, particularly for primary caregivers of children and teens dealing with developmental and intellectual disabilities. This role is designed to be entirely remote, allowing for flexibility and work-life balance while still maintaining close connections with clients. Through digital platforms, therapists will engage with clients, participate in team meetings, and coordinate care without the constraints of a traditional office setting, promoting autonomy and innovation in therapeutic interventions.

• Conduct individual in-home therapy sessions or facilitate group therapy sessions via our teletherapy platform or at outpatient centers, depending on client needs and preferences.
• Implement behavioral strategies such as anger management, coping skills training, and social skills development to address and reduce high-risk behaviors including self-injurious behavior (SIB) and physical aggression.
• Enhance youth and caregiver decision-making capabilities by providing tailored strategies for managing in-home behavioral challenges.
• Collaborate with the Child Family Treatment Team and multidisciplinary professionals to ensure a holistic approach in supporting the youth and their families.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of therapeutic sessions including intake forms, treatment plans, and progress notes, adhering to organizational standards.
• Participate in monthly team meetings to discuss progress, share insights, and provide recommendations for ongoing client care.

The core demographic includes children and adolescents aged 3-20, particularly those facing challenges related to intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Therapists will have the opportunity to work with a diverse cross-section of children, facilitating tailored and adaptive therapeutic strategies to better meet their unique needs.

• A Master’s Degree in Counseling, Family Therapy, or a related discipline is mandatory.
• Possession of an active and unrestricted Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) license.
• Availability for a minimum of 5-10 hours per week during after-school hours (4-7 PM), with a willingness to work on weekends when necessary.
• A valid driver’s license and access to a registered vehicle for potential travel to client homes or community settings.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check, including fingerprinting, is required before hiring.

• Experience in providing positive behavior support and effective intervention strategies for children with behavioral challenges.
• Prior work experience with children and families, particularly in the context of developmental and intellectual disabilities, is highly advantageous.
