What is a remote community manager?

A Remote Community Manager is responsible for building, engaging, and maintaining online communities for a brand, organization, or product. They interact with community members, moderate discussions, foster engagement, and implement strategies to grow and nurture the community. This role often involves managing social media, forums, or other digital platforms, as well as analyzing community feedback to improve engagement. Remote Community Managers work from anywhere, using digital tools to communicate and collaborate with teams and community members. Their goal is to create a positive and active online environment that supports the organization's mission.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote community manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Community Manager, you need experience in online community engagement, content moderation, and social media management, often supported by a background in communications or marketing. Familiarity with platforms such as Discord, Slack, Facebook Groups, and community management tools like Hootsuite or Sprout Social is common, and certifications in community management or digital marketing can be advantageous. Strong written communication, empathy, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills help you build rapport and maintain a positive community atmosphere. These abilities ensure you can effectively foster engagement, support community growth, and manage interactions in a remote environment.

What are some of the main challenges remote community managers face, and how can they be addressed?

One of the main challenges Remote Community Managers encounter is maintaining active engagement and positive interactions across diverse, online communities without face-to-face contact. Successful Remote Community Managers also stay adaptable and proactive, consistently encouraging participation and recognizing member contributions to foster a sense of belonging. Collaborating closely with marketing, product, or support teams can further help align community initiatives with broader company goals.

Portfolio Community Manager

CCR

Exton, PA โ€ข On-site, Remote

Full-time

Job description

CCR Management Services, Inc is looking for a Portfolio Community Manager to join our growing team in Exton, PA!

If you're a relationship-driven professional who enjoys solving problems, working with people, and making a real impact, this could be the perfect fit. You'll partner with volunteer Boards of Directors, homeowners, and vendors to help communities thrive.

Why CCR?

  • Three-time Philadelphia Business Journal Best Places to Work winner

  • Family-oriented culture with accessible leadership

  • Fully remote option after onboarding (typically 90 days)

  • Flexible schedule with comp time for evening meetings

  • Office closes at 2:00 p.m. every Friday

  • AI-powered tools that reduce administrative work so you can focus on what matters

  • Paid professional development and real opportunities for career growth

What We Offer

  • $65,000–$70,000 salary (based on experience)

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance

  • 15 days PTO plus paid holidays

  • Mileage reimbursement and company-provided technology

  • Paid CAI dues, continuing education, and designation coursework

If you're looking for a company that values its people, invests in technology, and supports your professional growth, we'd love to hear from you!

Compensation:

$65,000 - $70,000 yearly

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the day-to-day management contact for an assigned portfolio of homeowner, condominium, and planned community associations.

  • Build genuine working relationships with Boards of Directors, unit owners, residents, and vendors.

  • Prepare management reports, agendas, and supporting materials in advance of Board meetings, and attend and help facilitate those meetings.

  • Administer each association’s governing documents, rules, and enforcement procedures consistently and fairly.

  • Review monthly financial reports, monitor variances, and assist in preparing annual operating budgets and reserve planning.

  • Solicit and evaluate proposals, coordinate maintenance and capital improvement projects, and hold vendors accountable to scope, budget, and schedule.

  • Conduct regular site inspections and manage the architectural review and violation processes.

  • Respond to owner and Board correspondence promptly, professionally, and with composure — especially when the other person is not.

Qualifications:
  • Experience in community association or property management preferred — but we will train the right person. We would rather hire judgment and coachability than a resume line.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. A great deal of this job happens in writing.

  • Organization and the ability to keep many plates spinning without dropping the important ones.

  • Sound analytical and problem-solving instincts, and comfort reading a financial statement.

  • Willingness to attend evening Board meetings if needed (offset by our flexible hours and comp time).

  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and authorization to work in the United States.

  • CMCA, AMS, or PCAM designation, or the desire to earn one — CCR pays for your CAI dues and designation coursework.
