About Guideship
Guideship is a nonprofit workforce development organization dedicated to creating career pathways for underserved communities through mentorship, internships, apprenticeships, workforce readiness training, and cybersecurity education.
Over the past three years, our affiliated workforce development initiatives have invested more than $700,000 to develop and mature a nationally recognized Cybersecurity Apprenticeship Program. The program has become one of Maryland's leading cybersecurity apprenticeship models, serving individuals from underserved communities and helping graduates launch careers in technology and cybersecurity.
We are now seeking experienced volunteer Board Members who can help Guideship scale its impact through fundraising, strategic partnerships, donor engagement, and nonprofit growth.
Description
The Fundraising & Development Chair leads Guideship & fundraising strategy and helps secure the financial resources necessary to support scholarships, apprenticeships, workforce development programs, and organizational growth.
This position will play a critical role in mentoring fundraising volunteers and interns while helping establish a sustainable donor and grant development program.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop fundraising strategy and annual fundraising goals.
  • Identify prospective donors, sponsors, foundations, and grant opportunities.
  • Assist with donor cultivation and stewardship.
  • Support grant development and foundation outreach.
  • Mentor fundraising volunteers and interns.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the organization & mission.
  • Participate in fundraising events and campaigns.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Fundraising, philanthropy, development, or nonprofit leadership experience.
  • Track record of securing grants, sponsorships, or major gifts.
  • Strong professional network.
  • Passion for workforce development and educational opportunity.

Time Commitment
4–8 hours per month.
