What You'll Do
As a Client Development Representative (CDR), you'll own customer engagement and expansion within an assigned book of Brex existing customers. You'll combine high-velocity outreach with consultative discovery to identify opportunities, align stakeholders, and deliver measurable customer and revenue outcomes. This is an ideal role for someone building a sales career who enjoys developing customer relationships, navigating commercial conversations, and partnering cross-functionally to drive results.

Where You'll Work
This role will be based either within our New York City, San Francisco, Vancouver or Seattle offices. We are a hybrid environment that combines the energy and connections of being in the office with the benefits and flexibility of working from home. We currently require a minimum of three coordinated days in the office per week: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. As a perk, we also have up to four weeks per year of fully remote work!

Responsibilities

  • Drive daily customer outreach across email, phone, and social channels to generate a qualified pipeline for expansion.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for an assigned portfolio, helping existing customers get more value from Brex.
  • Identify and advance expansion opportunities by connecting Brex solutions to measurable business outcomes.
  • Lead structured discovery calls; develop commercial proposals and negotiate rewards, pricing, and other deal terms.
  • Develop a strong understanding of customer workflows, accounting processes, and financial priorities to uncover pain points and drive adoption.
  • Build relationships with finance stakeholders, from Controllers to CFOs; tailor value messaging, surface risks early, and recommend clear action plans.
  • Partner with Underwriting, Deal Desk, and internal account teams to balance customer needs with commercial impact.
  • Maintain rigorous forecasting, CRM hygiene, activity tracking, opportunity qualification, and proactive stakeholder communication.
  • Advocate for customers internally by sharing recurring feedback and insights that improve the product and customer experience.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of customer-facing experience in sales, hospitality, customer service, or a related field.
  • Experience in a general sales role or demonstrated interest in building a sales career.
  • Strong urgency and adaptability in live customer conversations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate Brex's value.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence internal partners based on customer needs.
  • Coachability, resilience, and a growth mindset.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field.

Bonus Points

  • Experience managing a book of business, account health, executive relationships, renewals, expansions, or new-business acquisition.
  • Familiarity with finance workflows, ERPs, spend-management platforms, or AP automation tools.
  • Experience in fintech, payments, corporate accounting, financial systems, or credit-card management.
  • Knowledge of credit limits, rewards, and underwriting.
  • Experience working in a high-growth startup environment.
  • Comfort building relationships across seniority levels and functions.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Salesforce and Gong.
  • A track record of building creative processes, using AI to improve efficiency, or finding resourceful ways to deliver results.

Compensation

The expected OTE range for this role is $82,535 - $98,001 USD. The starting wage will depend on a number of factors including the candidate's location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity. This OTE range reflects a standard work week, however, as an hourly employee if you exceed these hours, you will be paid overtime. The OTE figure listed here includes base compensation and commissions, which may or may not be earned depending on performance.  Depending on the position offered, equity and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation.
