Responsible for both new program development and ongoing program oversight throughout the delegated authority lifecycle. This role will function as a subject-matter expert in delegated authority governance, underwriting stewardship, and new program development, and will be actively engaged with program strategy design and implementation. Manages moderate-to-large or higher-complexity programs that carry moderate-to-higher risk and high regulatory or market complexity.

Your Work:

Program Strategy, Development & Launch

  • Leads assessment and development of new program opportunities and expansions into new markets or products presented by program administrators.

  • Leads underwriting, operational, financial, and strategic due diligence and prepares recommendation and approval materials for internal review forums.

  • Develops program business cases, appetite / pricing framing, revenue and loss projections, launch plans, and milestone schedules.

  • Directs cross-functional onboarding and go-live readiness across Underwriting, Actuarial, Claims, Operations, Finance, Legal / Compliance, and IT.

  • Manages program implementation projects including team coordination, resources, budget, and timelines.

Program Governance & Delegated Authority Oversight

  • Establishes and maintains authority matrices, referral thresholds, and escalation / intervention frameworks for assigned programs.

  • Leads governance meetings, committee cadence, and material-change reviews (products, systems, ownership, growth spikes).

  • Is responsible for adherence to agreements and drives remediation of governance gaps.

  • Maintains committee structure, reporting cadence, key risk indicators, and portfolio-level aggregation controls.

Underwriting Stewardship

  • Establishes underwriting guidelines, appetite, class definitions, exclusions, and risk-selection standards delegated to the program administrator.

  • Sets, monitors, and enforces delegated underwriting authority limits, referral thresholds, and breach management.

  • Reviews and approves product structures, policy forms, endorsements, and material wording changes prior to use.

  • Monitors underwriting quality, adherence, drift, and concentration risk; conducts performance reviews and corrective-action planning.

  • Approves pricing methodologies, rating changes, discounts, and surcharges within authority and monitors adherence.

Portfolio Performance & Profitability

  • Owns profitability and performance management for assigned programs against targets and approved risk appetite.

  • Develops performance action plans and monitors results; identifies and addresses adverse trends.

  • Leads monthly and quarterly performance and stewardship reviews with the program administrator.

  • Validates completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of bordereaux; supports profit-share calculation inputs.

  • Monitors program administrator financial condition, credit exposure, and stress indicators in coordination with Finance.

Relationship Management

  • Serves as primary carrier relationship owner and day-to-day contact for assigned program administrators.

  • Leads business reviews, performance discussions, and coordination across internal functions.

  • Acts as primary escalation contact and drives resolution of operational and performance issues.

  • Manages relationship health, issue tracking, and follow-through on commitments.

Regulatory, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Is responsible for regulatory compliance of delegated activities, including outsourcing obligations and regulatory expectations.

  • Drafts, negotiates, maintains, and helps enforce delegated authority agreements, addenda, and amendments in coordination with Legal.

  • Oversees agency / sub-producer appointment, maintenance, and termination to ensure properly licensed and authorized parties.

Required Experience, Education and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area (Business, Marketing, Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field) or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

  • 8+ years of increasingly responsible commercial insurance, underwriting, or delegated authority / program management experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of delegated authority oversight, governance, and commercial underwriting.

  • Advanced financial analysis, portfolio management, and profitability-evaluation skills.

  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional partners and influencing without direct authority.

  • Strong due diligence, business-case development, and program-onboarding skills.

  • Skilled negotiator and superb communication and presentation skills with both internal and external partners.

  • Advanced knowledge of regulatory and contractual requirements applicable to delegated authority programs.

What would make us excited about you?

  • Advanced degrees preferred.

  • Relevant industry designations (eg. CPCU, AU, ARe) preferred.

  • In-depth experience underwriting, developing, or managing programs in the sharing economy and mobility market across multiple segments.

  • Demonstrated experience assessing and structuring coverage for other emerging or specialty risk areas, including navigating limited loss history and evolving regulation.

  • Actively shapes our company culture (e.g., supporting employee resource groups, mentoring employees, volunteering, joining cross-functional projects).

  • Champions our cultural norms (e.g., willing to have cameras on when it matters: helping onboard new team members, building relationships, etc.).

  • Demonstrates a company ownership mindset, thinking beyond boundaries of their own area.
