Job description

Overview

This is a remote role that may only be hired in the following locations: NC, SC, FL, TN and AZ.

This position serves as a regional credit leader, influencing portfolio performance, credit quality, and process improvement across the organization.  Reviews, negotiates, and decisions business loans and servicing plans within the Business Credit channel.  Ensure loan approvals align with credit policies, procedures, and organizational philosophy. 

 Leverages expertise in financial analysis, credit risk management, and regulatory frameworks while fostering strong partnerships to deliver prudent credit solutions and sustainable portfolio results.  Works closely with sales leadership, relationship managers, and associates to support strategic objectives and business plans through daily activities.   Provides guidance and mentorship to less experienced credit associates within the business unit.  Serves as a regional risk control officer to mitigate loss, delinquency, and overall risk for assigned credit portfolios.


Responsibilities & Qualifications

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Risk Management - Analyzes, negotiates, and decisions business loans and servicing plans. Assesses credit risks to ensure consistent borrower risk ratings.  Ensures loan decisions are consistent, objective, and compliant, while meeting Bank and customer needs. Communicates credit decisions to all parties involved and recommends further action.  Manages at-risk relationships in respective regions of responsibility, including ongoing monitoring and review of action plans.
  • Credit Expertise - Maintains current working knowledge of respective markets and industry trends that may affect the extension of credit.  Communicates changes to lending personnel, credit appetite, and processes to first line partners. Serves as an advisor in analyzing, negotiating, strategizing, and underwriting credits within the assigned region(s).  Acts as a primary contact to credit and field associates within their respective markets.
  • Team Leadership - Utilizes expertise to provide guidance, feedback, and direction on complex matters. Assists in the communication of performance results and expected behaviors for success.  Supports/mentors Bankers and less experienced Credit Officers to achieve optimal credit performance. Provides feedback to area and regional leadership. Identifies training needs, process improvements, and skill deficiencies among line units.
  • Business Support - Recommends departmental policies and procedures to address identified issues and opportunities. Coordinates with credit risk review and loan workout functions, assists in managing credit needs related to traditional banking services, and participates in client credit transactions.  Participates in projects and special assignments as needed to achieve commercial lending goals.
  • Relationship Development - Establishes and maintains successful partnerships with sales leadership, relationship managers, and executives to ensure that business lending objectives are effectively communicated and carried out. May represent the Credit Administration department on various committees and market visits.


Position Specific Skills:

Strong knowledge of financial and credit principles, credit risk analysis, lending products, and credit administration within the financial services industry. Proven ability to build effective partnerships, navigate regulatory requirements, and evaluate credit risk to support sound lending decisions.


Qualifications:
Minimum Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree and 8 years' experience OR High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent and 12 years' experience in Commercial credit analysis, or Lending, or Underwriting


Preferred Licenses or Certifications:Credit Risk Certification (CRC)- encouraged
