The main difference is that Remote Commerce Writers focus on creating product descriptions, category pages, and e-commerce content, requiring knowledge of online retail and SEO. Both roles involve remote work and require strong writing skills, but their industry focus and content types differ.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Commerce Writer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Commerce Writer, you need strong writing skills, a keen understanding of SEO, and familiarity with digital content strategies, often supported by a degree in journalism, communications, or a related field. Proficiency in content management systems (like WordPress), affiliate marketing platforms, and analytics tools is typically required. Excellent time management, adaptability, and effective communication skills help you meet deadlines and collaborate remotely with editors and teams. These abilities ensure that commerce content is engaging, optimized for search, and drives revenue while maintaining editorial standards.

What is a Remote Commerce Writer?

A Remote Commerce Writer is a professional who creates content designed to inform and influence readers about products and services, typically for digital publications or e-commerce platforms. Working remotely, they research products, write reviews, buying guides, and promotional articles that help drive online sales and affiliate revenue. Their work often involves SEO optimization, collaborating with editors and marketing teams, and staying updated on the latest trends in e-commerce. This role requires strong writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently from any location.

How does a Remote Commerce Writer typically collaborate with editors and other team members when working from different locations?

As a Remote Commerce Writer, you'll regularly collaborate with editors, SEO specialists, and sometimes product or affiliate teams through digital communication tools like Slack, email, and project management platforms. Editors usually provide assignments, feedback, and deadlines, while team meetings (often held via video calls) help ensure alignment on content strategy and priorities. Clear, proactive communication is essential, as is the ability to adapt to asynchronous workflows and shared documents. This collaborative, digital-first environment allows for flexibility but requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills to maintain productivity and meet goals.

Growth Sales Manager - E-commerce (Remote)

Job description

BlueTuskr is hiring a Business Development Representative to drive new business for our e-commerce marketing agency. This is a remote sales role for a hunter with experience selling marketing services or SaaS to e-commerce, DTC, or Amazon brands. $75K base + uncapped commission, and a clear path to building and leading a sales team.

About BlueTuskr

BlueTuskr is a full-service e-commerce marketing agency, and a proud winner of Amazon's 2025 Agency of the Year. We help DTC and Amazon brands grow through paid ads, email/SMS, and SEO. We're certified partners with Amazon, Walmart, Shopify Plus, Google, Meta, TikTok, Klaviyo, Omnisend, Pacvue, SEMrush, Helium 10, and more - basically every platform that matters in our space. We have deep case studies across e-commerce verticals, with growing specialization in the industrial and parts category.

We're a collaborative, opinionated, and analytical team. We move fast, we're honest with clients, and we take our craft seriously.

The Role

This is a hunter sales role focused on new business development. We are hiring one person who can find their own business, close their own business, and then build a sales team underneath them.

You will be our first dedicated sales hire, reporting directly to our CEO. You'll inherit a playbook, the tech stack (HubSpot, Smartlead, Dripify, LinkedIn outreach), a library of case studies, AI-powered audit tools, gated content, and a list of partner certifications most agencies would kill for. You'll have a real budget for conferences, trade shows, prospecting lists, and direct mail - whatever channels you can prove work.

What you won't have is someone hand-feeding you leads. We get inbound, and you'll get those at a lower commission rate. But the expectation is that the majority of your pipeline comes from your own hunting.

Once you close a client, an Account Strategist takes over the day-to-day. You stay involved at a high level - monthly check-ins during the first three months of onboarding, then quarterly. You're the strategic touchpoint and escalation contact, and you earn commission on that account for the life of the relationship and additional commission on upsells. The more they grow, the more you make.

Externally, you can introduce yourself to prospects as a Senior Growth Consultant or Growth Strategist - whatever feels right. We don't care what's on your business card. We care that you can sell.

The Growth Path

Within 18 months, we want to build this into a team of 3+. If you perform, you build that team. You hire the SDRs and/or additional reps underneath you, you shape the process, and you grow into running the department. You'll earn an override on their production on top of your own book. This is a real path - the explicit plan for this role.

Who We're Looking For

You have at least 3+ years in B2B sales of marketing services, SaaS, or related software. Direct experience selling to e-commerce, DTC, or Amazon brands strongly preferred. You understand how DTC and Amazon sellers think because you've sold to them before.

Agency sales experience is also a strong plus.

Bonus points if you have a network in the industrial or parts e-commerce space - that's a vertical we're leaning into.

You're a hunter, not a farmer. You don't wait for marketing to hand you leads. You build lists, you write your own sequences, you pick up the phone, you show up at trade shows, you experiment with channels, and you measure what works. You have your own proven playbook, and you're excited to bring it.

You close. We're not looking for someone who runs great discovery calls and disappears at the proposal stage. You move deals forward, you handle objections, and you ask for the business.

You want to build something. This role is for someone who wants to develop into a sales leader and own a department, not someone who wants to coast on a steady commission check.

You're a culture fit for us. That means: opinionated but coachable, honest with clients even when it's uncomfortable, analytical about your own performance, and genuinely interested in e-commerce as a category.

Requirements

What You'll Be Doing

  • Build and run outbound prospecting across cold email, cold calling, LinkedIn, direct mail, conferences, and trade shows
  • Close inbound leads that come through our marketing channels (newsletter, podcast, content, referrals)
  • Manage your pipeline in HubSpot and report honestly on what's working and what isn't
  • Refine our sales playbook based on what you learn in market
  • Own ongoing client check-ins (monthly for onboarding, quarterly after) and surface upsell opportunities
  • Help build the sales department - hiring, coaching, and processes

What You Bring

  • 3+ years in B2B sales of marketing services, SaaS, or related software. Direct experience selling to e-commerce, DTC, or Amazon brands strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of hunting and closing new business - not just managing pipeline someone else built
  • Experience with HubSpot or a similar CRM, plus outbound platforms like Smartlead, Apollo, or Outreach
  • Strong written and verbal communication - you can write a cold email that gets opened and run a discovery call that converts
  • Willingness to travel for conferences and trade shows (we cover it)
  • Bonus: existing contacts in industrial or parts e-commerce, or prior agency sales experience

Benefits

Compensation

  • Base salary: $70,000 - $80,000
  • Year 1 OTE Earning: $155,000-$180,000
  • Year 3+ trajectory (with built book and team override): $225,000-$300,000+
  • No commission cap, ever. If you crush it, you keep crushing it.

Future team override: When you hire and manage reps, you earn additional commissions on their initial-term net sales

What Else We Offer

  • Fully remote
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Flexible hours
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Internet, mobile phone, and gym reimbursements
  • Conference and travel budget for prospecting
  • Full access to our case study library, partner network, and AI sales tools
  • A real path to building and running a sales department within 18 months
