The main difference is that Remote Commerce Writers focus on creating product descriptions, category pages, and e-commerce content, requiring knowledge of online retail and SEO. Remote Content Writers produce a broader range of content across industries, often with less emphasis on e-commerce specifics. Both roles involve remote work and require strong writing skills, but their industry focus and content types differ.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote commerce writer?

To thrive as a Remote Commerce Writer, you need strong writing skills, a keen understanding of SEO, and familiarity with digital content strategies, often supported by a degree in journalism, communications, or a related field. Proficiency in content management systems (like WordPress), affiliate marketing platforms, and analytics tools is typically required. Excellent time management, adaptability, and effective communication skills help you meet deadlines and collaborate remotely with editors and teams. These abilities ensure that commerce content is engaging, optimized for search, and drives revenue while maintaining editorial standards.

What is a remote commerce writer?

A Remote Commerce Writer is a professional who creates content designed to inform and influence readers about products and services, typically for digital publications or e-commerce platforms. Working remotely, they research products, write reviews, buying guides, and promotional articles that help drive online sales and affiliate revenue. Their work often involves SEO optimization, collaborating with editors and marketing teams, and staying updated on the latest trends in e-commerce. This role requires strong writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently from any location.

How does a remote commerce writer typically collaborate with editors and other team members when working from different locations?

As a Remote Commerce Writer, you'll regularly collaborate with editors, SEO specialists, and sometimes product or affiliate teams through digital communication tools like Slack, email, and project management platforms. Editors usually provide assignments, feedback, and deadlines, while team meetings (often held via video calls) help ensure alignment on content strategy and priorities. Clear, proactive communication is essential, as is the ability to adapt to asynchronous workflows and shared documents. This collaborative, digital-first environment allows for flexibility but requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills to maintain productivity and meet goals.

Job description

See something that should exist? Build it.
See a better way? Do it.

At Terrific, every role directly impacts how we grow from product to revenue to customer experience. We're building the next generation of social commerce through live shopping powered by real-time data and AI.
And we believe customer data should belong to the brands who earn it - not third-party platforms.
Media Sales Specialist
Terrific • Remote, Americas • Contract
About Terrific
Terrific Live is a social commerce platform that helps retailers, eCommerce brands, and media groups grow revenue through live, interactive, social-native shopping experiences on their own properties.
Our platform connects audiences and presenters in real time - streaming across Latin America, Europe, and Israel - and turns content into measurable commerce.
We work with leading broadcasters and media companies- helping them unlock new revenue streams through shoppable content and first-party commerce.
The Role
Terrific is already winning in media. Now we need someone who can scale it.
The Media Sales Specialist is responsible for converting broadcasters, publishers, and streaming platforms into paying clients - and expanding those relationships into meaningful, recurring revenue.
This is not a generic sales role. You need to speak fluent "media": how broadcasters think, how they monetize, where they are stuck, and how to move them.
You'll translate Terrific's platform into a clear commercial story for media executives - and close.
What You'll Do
Revenue Ownership
  • Own the full sales cycle with media companies - from first conversation to signed deal and expansion
  • Close multi-year platform, content, or monetization partnerships with broadcasters and publishers
  • Build and manage a pipeline of qualified media opportunities across key regions
Market & Customer Understanding
  • Identify how media companies monetize today - and where Terrific creates incremental revenue
  • Position Terrific as a new revenue layer: shoppable content, live commerce, and first-party data
  • Navigate complex stakeholder environments (content, digital, commercial, product, exec)
Strategic Selling
  • Translate Terrific's product into a media monetization story that resonates with executives
  • Diagnose commercial gaps and tie them directly to revenue outcomes
  • Lead high-quality demos and conversations focused on business impact - not features
Partnership Growth
  • Expand initial deals into broader partnerships across properties, formats, and regions
  • Work closely with Customer Success and Product to ensure revenue outcomes are realized
  • Identify upsell opportunities tied to performance, scale, and new use cases
What We're Looking For
  • Proven experience selling into broadcasters, publishers, or streaming platforms
  • Strong network within media organizations (commercial, digital, or executive stakeholders)
  • Deep understanding of digital monetization, editorial commerce, and content-driven revenue models
  • Track record of closing complex, multi-stakeholder deals (preferably multi-year partnerships)
  • Ability to translate product capabilities into clear business and revenue outcomes
  • High commercial ownership - you think in revenue, not activity
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building structure where it doesn't exist
  • Clear, confident communicator - can hold a room with senior media executives
Why Terrific
  • Direct ownership of a fast-growing media revenue channel
  • Work with leading global broadcasters and media companies
  • Sell a product that creates new revenue, not incremental optimization
  • Tight, senior team with real autonomy and speed
Success Looks Like
  • You close your first media deal within ~30-60 days
  • You build a pipeline of high-quality broadcaster opportunities quickly
  • Your deals generate meaningful revenue (target: 3-5x cost within ~6 months)
  • Media partners expand - more properties, more formats, more revenue

Required:
  • Deep experience in at least one of Terrific's three commercial pillars - eCommerce, Marketing, or Media - and enough fluency across the other two to contribute credibly from day 1.
  • Terrific operates as a global company, and English is our primary business language. As such, all roles require fluency in written and spoken English.

Be part of the change that's quietly reshaping how people discover and buy online.
Passionate about social media and e-commerce? Come build what's next at Terrific.
