Tax Manager - CPA Firm - Remote first!

Tax Manager - CPA Firm 

Location - Downtown Denver

Flexible WFH schedule + onsite as need - primarily remote! But must be in the general area 

Salary: DOE - 100k-130k base + bonus + benefits package

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our CPA firm. The Tax Manager will lead tax compliance and planning engagements for corporate, partnership, and nonprofit clients, and serve as a primary client contact. The ideal candidate is a CPA with strong technical tax knowledge (including 1120/1120S, C-Corp matters, and 5500 filings), excellent communication skills for client interfacing, and hands-on experience preparing, reviewing, and signing returns and tax calculations.
Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor tax staff, delegate assignments, review workpapers and deliverables, and support professional development.
  • Manage and prepare federal and state corporate tax returns and review returns prepared by staff for accuracy and completeness.
  • Handle C-Corp tax engagements, including preparation of tax calculations, tax provision support, and planning recommendations.
  • Prepare and review quarterly tax estimates and coordinate timely payments to meet client obligations.
  • Manage nonprofit client engagements including Form 5500 filings and related compliance requirements.
  • Perform tax research on complex issues and apply technical guidance to client situations; document conclusions and recommendations.
  • Oversee the final input, review, and signing of tax returns; ensure quality control and compliance with professional standards.

Qualifications

  • Active CPA license required.
  • 5+ years of progressive public accounting tax experience, preferably in a small to midsize CPA firm.
  • Proven experience preparing and reviewing federal and state corporate returns.
  • Experience with nonprofit compliance and Form 5500 filings.
  • Strong background in C-Corp taxation, tax calculations, and quarterly estimated tax preparation.
  • Demonstrated ability to interface with clients, lead engagements, and communicate complex tax concepts clearly.
  • Solid tax research skills and familiarity with relevant tax software (Lacerte, ProSystem fx, CCH, or similar)
