Job description

Job Title: Civil Litigation Attorney

Job Summary: The Civil Litigation Attorney will be responsible for supporting senior attorneys on complex cases, handling their own case files from start to finish, drafting legal documents, assisting with trial preparation, remote court appearances and depositions. This position requires a strong foundation in civil litigation and a passion for advocacy.

Key Responsibilities:

· Case Preparation - Conduct thorough legal research, analyze case facts, and prepare case materials, including pleadings, discovery responses, and motions.

· Client Communication - Assist in client consultations and maintain regular communication to update them on case progress and developments.

· Court Filings and Appearances - Prepare documents for filing with the court, prepare for and attend hearings, and represent clients in depositions and motions as needed.

· Document Review and Discovery - Conduct document review, manage discovery requests and responses, and organize and analyze documents for case development.

· Legal Research and Drafting - Prepare well-researched and persuasive legal briefs, memoranda, and other legal documents for senior attorneys and court submissions.

· Support in Trial Preparation - Assist senior attorneys in preparing for trial, including organizing evidence, witness preparation, and attending trial when necessary.

· Case Management - Maintain organized case files, track case deadlines, and ensure timely submission of documents and filings.

· Collaboration - Work closely with other attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants to provide comprehensive legal support.

· Discovery Strategy: Collaborate with case teams and discovery counsel to develop and implement effective discovery strategies, including the identification and collection of electronically stored information (ESI).

· Compliance and Case Management: Ensure compliance with discovery obligations under federal and state rules of civil procedure and stay updated on evolving eDiscovery best practices and legal technology.

· Communication: Interface with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, opposing counsel, and vendors, to manage discovery timelines, scope, and processes.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Bar Admission: Active California license in good standing.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of litigation experience, with significant experience in discovery.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using office software (e.g., Microsoft Office) and familiarity with document management systems.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in filing and record-keeping.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with attorneys and staff.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced legal environment.
  • Confidentiality: Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
