Job description

Remote work is available for candidates in Minnesota, North Dakota or South Dakota, only. 

The Outpatient Coder exhibits professional and proficient communication, with patients, co-workers, medical staff and administrative staff. Meet or exceed the expected accuracy rate of 95% and demonstrate efficient skills when coding outpatient charges for billing. Be knowledgeable of outpatient coding guidelines, ICD-10 diagnosis application and resources available within and outside the clinic to obtain optimum accuracy for account billing while sustaining coding charts per hour rate expectations based on outpatient specialty areas. Other coding tasks as assigned by supervisor. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  1. Audit charge tickets for accurate and required CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes, according to third party requirements.
  2. Communicate with medical staff to acquire necessary information for accurate coding.
  3. Interpret medical record documentation to obtain necessary information for accurate coding.
  4. Maintain knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes, computer system, procedure changes and updates and other educational material pertinent to this position.
  5. Perform miscellaneous office duties as time permits and/or other duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or director.

Shifts:
80 Hours Biweekly, Day shifts, Monday to Friday. Candidates can be fully remote or on-site. 
Remote work is available for candidates in Minnesota, North Dakota or South Dakota, only.

Compensation:
Hourly Wage Range: $21.73 - $38.87. Please note that final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications and internal equity considerations.

    • RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CCS-P and/or certification or other related coding certificate through AHIMA/AAPC preferred.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology and outpatient coding, CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS.
    • Ophthalmology coding experience preferred
    • Proficient and professional communication, both verbal and written.
    • Basic math and accounting skills.
    • One or more years of related experience of medical coding required.
  2. Proficient computer/keyboarding skills required.
  3. Successful completion of the pre-employment health screening process required.
  4. Must be able to attend the work site per schedule
