What is a Remote Coder?

A Remote Coder is a professional who writes and maintains computer code for software applications while working from a location outside of a traditional office, often from home or any place with internet connectivity. Remote Coders collaborate with teams using online tools and are responsible for tasks such as debugging, code reviews, and implementing features. This role offers flexibility and may require strong communication skills and self-motivation to meet project deadlines. Remote Coders can work in various industries, including technology, healthcare, and finance.

What Does a Remote Coder Do?

Remote medical coders handle patient information to ensure their medical services are billed properly to their insurance company. This administrative position is sometimes referred to as medical records technicians or health information technicians. Unlike coders who work in the office, remote medical coders work from home or another location outside of the office. Remote medical coders collect, research, and file patient medical information. As a remote medical coder, your primary responsibilities include making sure that all the data in a patient’s record is accurate and up-to-date, organizing patient data within multiple databases, and using medical codes to determine reimbursement for insurance billing purposes.

Will a medical coder be replaced by AI?

Medical coders perform complex tasks that require understanding medical records, coding guidelines, and compliance, which currently limits full automation. While AI tools can assist with coding accuracy and efficiency, human oversight remains essential to handle nuanced cases and ensure proper documentation. Therefore, medical coders are unlikely to be fully replaced by AI in the near future, but their roles may evolve with technological advancements.

How to make $1000 a week remote?

A remote coder can earn $1000 a week by taking on multiple freelance or contract projects, often requiring strong skills in programming languages, problem-solving, and time management. Building a solid portfolio, obtaining relevant certifications, and using platforms like Upwork or Freelancer can help secure higher-paying assignments. Consistent work, specialization in high-demand areas, and efficient project completion are key to reaching this income level.

Can you work remotely as a coder?

Remote coding jobs are common in the tech industry, allowing programmers to work from home or any location with internet access. Many companies offer remote positions that require skills in programming languages, version control, and collaboration tools. Flexibility varies by employer, but remote work is widely available for qualified coders.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Coder, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Coder, you need in-depth knowledge of medical coding systems, anatomy, and healthcare regulations, typically supported by a certification such as CPC, CCS, or CCA. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) software, coding tools like ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and online coding platforms is essential. Strong attention to detail, time management, and self-motivation are critical soft skills for accuracy and productivity in a remote setting. These skills ensure precise coding, compliance with healthcare standards, and reliable performance while working independently.

How can I make 2000 a week working from home?

A remote coder can earn $2,000 a week by taking on multiple freelance or contract projects, often requiring advanced programming skills and a strong portfolio. Increasing hourly rates, working efficiently, and securing high-paying clients or long-term contracts are key strategies. Building expertise in in-demand languages and tools can also help achieve higher earnings.

What are some common challenges faced by remote coders and how can they be effectively managed?

Remote coders often encounter challenges such as maintaining clear communication with team members across time zones, managing distractions in a home environment, and staying motivated without in-person supervision. To address these, it's important to utilize collaboration tools (like Slack or Zoom), set up a dedicated workspace, and establish a structured daily routine. Regular check-ins with your team and proactive communication can also help ensure alignment on project goals and deadlines.

Job description

About the Role

As a Senior Build and Release Automation Engineer at NinjaOne, you will serve as a technical leader focused on build and release automation strategy, CI/CD platform engineering, and software supply-chain excellence. You will own the design, scalability, reliability, and security of our build and release ecosystem across our entire portfolio of Unified IT Operations SaaS products.

This role goes beyond maintaining pipelines—you will architect and standardize how software is built, versioned, tested, signed, and released across hundreds of repositories and services. You will drive automation that reduces lead time, eliminates manual release risk, improves traceability, and enables predictable, auditable, and secure software delivery.

You will partner closely with Development, QA, Security, Architecture, and Corporate IT to define and implement golden CI/CD patterns, enforce build governance standards, embed security controls, and optimize delivery performance. As NinjaOne continues to scale globally, you will help enable rapid expansion into new regions through resilient, repeatable, and compliant build and release automation systems.

This is a highly visible, high-impact role responsible for evolving NinjaOne’s build platform into a self-service, secure, and performance-optimized delivery engine.

Location - We are flexible on remote working from home, if you are located in the USA and reside in one of the following states - CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, *IL, KS, MA, MD, ME, NJ, NC, NY, OR, TN, TX, VA, and WA. We have physical offices in Austin, TX and Tampa, FL, if you prefer a hybrid option.

We hire the best software engineers, but experience in our stack can’t hurt: NinjaOne is built on Java, Kotlin, C++, Golang and Postgres; supporting millions of user endpoints and running as a scalable cloud service in AWS.  Knowing large-scale datastore bottlenecks, asynchronous application design and client-server architecture will help you.

What You’ll be Doing

  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines, versioning automation, and artifact signing across services and repositories.
  • Define and roll out standardized build patterns, reusable pipeline templates, and “golden” configurations (CircleCI and related tooling).
  • Manage and optimize build infrastructure (executors, runners, caching, containerized environments) to reduce lead time, flakiness, and cost.
  • Partner with engineering and architecture teams to diagnose and resolve systemic build failures and dependency issues.
  • Embed security and supply-chain controls into pipelines, including vulnerability scanning, secrets management, policy enforcement, and SBOM generation.
  • Implementation of branching, versioning, and release strategies (e.g.,/feature branches, trunk-based development, release branches, hotfix flows) to improve predictability and rollback safety.
  • Administer artifact management platforms (e.g., JFrog Artifactory), including repository layout, retention, immutability, and provenance metadata.
  • Collaborate with security, compliance, and audit teams to meet regulatory and customer requirements for traceability and change governance.
  • Create and maintain clear documentation, runbooks, and onboarding materials for CI/CD standards and tooling.
  • Mentor engineers and help teams adopt standardized build and release workflows
  • Other duties as needed.

About You

  • 8+ years of experience in DevOps, build/release engineering, or platform engineering with deep CI/CD automation expertise.
  • Proven experience designing, scaling, and operating complex CI/CD systems using tools such as CircleCI, GitHub Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.
  • Strong expertise in Git-based workflows, branching strategies, pull request governance, and protected branch policies.
  • Hands-on experience administering artifact repositories (e.g., JFrog Artifactory) including repository design and metadata management.
  • Deep understanding of build systems and dependency management (Maven, Gradle, npm, etc.).
  • Experience designing secure software supply-chain processes including signing, SBOM generation, and vulnerability scanning.
  • Strong infrastructure-as-code experience (CDK, Terraform, Ansible, Chef, etc.) applied to CI/CD infrastructure.
  • Experience with containerized build environments (Docker) and cloud platforms (AWS or equivalent).
  • Proficiency in scripting or programming (Python, Bash, Go, etc.) to build automation tooling.
  • Experience implementing release governance, audit traceability, and change management processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing and rolling out standardized “golden pipeline” templates across large engineering organizations.
  • Background in DevSecOps or software supply-chain security (attestations, signing frameworks, policy-as-code such as OPA/Conftest).
  • Experience improving DORA metrics and delivery performance at scale.
  • Prior experience leading CI/CD modernization, platform migrations, or tooling consolidation initiatives.
  • Experience operating in high-growth SaaS or multi-region cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with progressive delivery patterns such as blue/green or canary releases.
