Job description

Job Title: Inpatient CDI Specialist

Location: 100% Remote โ€“ Work from Anywhere in the U.S.

Duration: 30-Week Contract with Chances of Extension

Schedule: Sun- Thu | 8x5 per week
Pay Range: $50-$60/hour (W2) (Negotiable)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review inpatient medical records concurrently and retrospectively to ensure accurate clinical documentation and coding support.
  • Analyze medical records to capture severity of illness, risk of mortality, complexity of care, and medical necessity accurately.
  • Identify documentation gaps and collaborate with physicians, coders, case management, nursing, and clinical staff to improve record accuracy and completeness.
  • Facilitate physician queries and documentation clarification to support compliant coding and reimbursement practices.
  • Validate that discharge diagnoses, co-morbidities, and procedures accurately reflect the patientโ€™s clinical condition and treatment provided.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of pathophysiology, medications, disease processes, coding guidelines, and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives related to documentation integrity, coding accuracy, and reimbursement optimization.
  • Serve as a clinical documentation resource and educator for physicians and healthcare staff.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations, coding guidelines, and documentation integrity standards.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience as an Inpatient Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist (ICDIS) required.
  • Experience performing concurrent inpatient medical record review in a production-based environment within the last 12 months required.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians and healthcare teams required.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal supervision required.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
