What is remote clinical informatics?

Remote clinical informatics is a field that involves managing and analyzing health information and data to improve patient care, with professionals working from locations outside traditional healthcare settings. These specialists use technology to collect, store, and interpret medical data, helping healthcare providers make better clinical decisions. Remote clinical informaticists often collaborate with IT teams, clinicians, and administrators to optimize electronic health records (EHRs), ensure data security, and support telehealth initiatives. This role is critical in the modern healthcare environment, where digital solutions and remote work are increasingly common.

What is a remote clinical informatics job?

Remote clinical informatics jobs include positions such as clinical informatics analyst, clinical informatics specialist, informatics programmer analyst, informatics scientist, and clinical informatics educator. Clinical informatics is the discipline of studying how technology can improve the flow of clinical and patient information between researchers, clinicians, patients, and health care organizations in the health care system. Your specific duties depend on your position, but most jobs require you to help design and develop data storage and sharing systems. Your responsibilities may also include helping to analyze and improve current informatics systems at an institution.

How does a remote clinical informatics professional typically collaborate with healthcare teams and IT departments?

Remote Clinical Informatics professionals often work closely with both clinical staff and IT teams to optimize electronic health record (EHR) systems and ensure seamless health data workflows. They facilitate communication between clinicians and technical staff, translating clinical needs into technical requirements and vice versa. Regular virtual meetings, project management tools, and secure messaging platforms are commonly used to coordinate updates, solve problems, and implement new technologies. Strong collaboration skills are essential, as much of the work involves cross-functional teamwork to improve patient care and data integrity.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote clinical informatics specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Clinical Informatics Specialist, you need a background in healthcare, knowledge of clinical workflows, and often a degree in informatics, health information management, or a related field. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems, data analytics tools, and certifications such as Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS) are commonly required. Strong communication, problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate across clinical and technical teams are essential soft skills. These abilities are vital to ensure accurate data management, successful implementation of health IT solutions, and improved patient care outcomes in a remote environment.

Job description

About Sapio Sciences

Sapio Sciences is on a mission to accelerate scientific discovery and high-throughput clinical and diagnostic services. We bring together scientists, engineers, and industry specialists to build a unified lab informatics platform that helps organisations move faster, work smarter, and generate deeper insight from their data.

Artificial intelligence is central to how we innovate and operate. Within our platform, AI enhances how laboratories structure, interpret, and act on scientific data. Across our business, we apply AI thoughtfully to improve efficiency, scalability, and decision-making. It is not an add-on or future ambition. It is embedded in how we build, deliver, and continuously improve.

Our platform unifies ELN, LIMS, and scientific data management within a highly configurable environment. Scientists, laboratory professionals, and bioinformaticians rely on Sapio to manage end-to-end laboratory operations, from instrument integration and experiment setup to sample management, data analysis, and reporting. We design solutions that are powerful yet practical, enabling teams to focus on science rather than systems.

Working at Sapio

Our EMBRACE values guide how we work and grow together. We take ownership of our outcomes, collaborate openly across functions and geographies, and remain curious about how science and technology can evolve. We are accountable to each other and to our customers, and we measure our success by the real-world impact our platform enables.

Working at Sapio means being part of a lean, growth-focused team where ownership is expected and progress matters. We value colleagues who are motivated by impact and comfortable operating in an evolving environment.

At Sapio, you will work alongside people who care deeply about advancing drug discovery and improving laboratory operations worldwide. Ideas are encouraged, initiative is recognised, and professional growth is supported. As a scale-up, we move with pace and purpose, balancing innovation with responsibility.

We partner with laboratories around the world, from emerging biotech companies to global pharmaceutical and diagnostics organisations, who trust Sapio to deliver intelligent, science-aware solutions that support discovery, development, and diagnostics.

About the Role

This is not a traditional inward-facing product manager role. This is an externally oriented, product marketing-biased position at the intersection of product strategy, customer engagement, and commercial execution. The right candidate will be as comfortable in front of a prospective customer or at an industry conference as they are working through a product roadmap with internal stakeholders.

As Senior Product Manager, you will be the outward voice of the Sapio platform. You will own the narrative around how our products solve real scientific and operational challenges, translating deep domain knowledge of ELN, LIMS, and CMC workflows into compelling demonstrations, positioning, and messaging that resonates with buyers, users, and partners.

You will report directly into our VP of Product, and work in close collaboration with the executive leadership team, including our CEO. You will operate as a senior and trusted voice, capable of engaging confidently at the executive level - both internally and with our most strategic customers.

Working Location

This is a remote-first role. We are open to candidates based in the US (East Coast preferred) or the UK. There is an expectation to travel periodically - to meet with the leadership team, to join key customer engagements, and to represent Sapio at industry events. Our teams are spread across the US and the UK, with offices in York, PA, Fort Lauderdale, and London.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Own the outward-facing product narrative - developing positioning, messaging frameworks, and demo strategies that clearly articulate the value of Sapio's platform across ELN, LIMS, and CMC workflows.
  • Lead and deliver high-impact solution presentations to prospective customers, partners, and at industry events, tailoring content to audience - from bench scientists to C-suite executives.
  • Act as a strategic bridge between development, marketing, and sales - ensuring go-to-market activity is grounded in product reality and customer insight.
  • Develop deep domain expertise across CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls), with a strong understanding of biologics and the broader life sciences landscape, to credibly engage with scientific and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Partner closely with the Head of Product and executive leadership team to align external messaging with product direction and company strategy.
  • Represent the voice of the customer internally - synthesising feedback from demos, customer conversations, and market signals into actionable product and positioning insights.
  • Collaborate with sales on RFP responses, proof-of-concept engagements, and strategic account support where product expertise and demonstration capability are required.
  • Lead product marketing efforts, partnering with the marketing team on content development, conference presentations, webinars, and customer advisory board preparation.
  • Engage regularly with the executive leadership team and CEO, providing clear, confident, and commercially aware perspectives on market positioning and customer feedback.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in a product management or product marketing role within a life sciences software company, with a clear external and customer-facing orientation.
  • Deep knowledge of ELN and LIMS products - you must be able to speak credibly about these platforms with scientists, lab managers, and IT stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of CMC processes, with experience in or exposure to biologics and the biotech/pharma development pipeline strongly preferred.
  • A strong product marketing mindset - you understand how to translate complex functionality into compelling value propositions and customer stories.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and influencing senior stakeholders, including executive leaders. You are comfortable in the room with a CEO and bring presence, preparation, and commercial acumen.
  • Track record of delivering high-quality product demonstrations that move deals forward and build customer confidence.
  • Experience operating across scale-up and/or corporate environments - you can navigate both the pace of a growing company and the complexity of large enterprise accounts.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills - written, verbal, and visual. You can simplify the complex and make it land.
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to align product activity to business outcomes.

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Customer-first mindset - naturally curious about how scientists and laboratory professionals work, and motivated by solving their real problems.
  • Confident and credible communicator at all levels, from bench scientists to C-suite; equally effective in one-to-one conversations and large group settings.
  • Able to manage competing priorities across product, sales, and marketing workstreams without losing quality or focus.
  • Self-starter who thrives in environments with autonomy - you set your own pace and hold yourself to a high standard.
  • Collaborative and inclusive in how you work with colleagues across geographies and functions.
  • Adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity - you can operate effectively as strategy evolves.
  • High integrity and accountability; you follow through on commitments and are transparent about progress and challenges.
  • Strong attention to detail in customer-facing materials and communications.

Preferred Experience

  • Background in biologics, CDMOs, or pharmaceutical development organisations, with hands-on familiarity with how CMC data is generated, managed, and reviewed.
  • Experience in a dual product management / product marketing function, or close collaboration between the two.
  • Familiarity with the regulatory and quality context in which ELN and LIMS platforms operate (e.g. 21 CFR Part 11, GxP environments).
  • Prior experience in a scale-up or Series B/C-stage software business, where you have built processes and collateral from the ground up.
  • Exposure to scientific data management platforms, informatics, or adjacent software categories.
  • Experience presenting at industry conferences, user groups, or customer advisory boards.
