Job Description:
The Opportunity
In this role, you will provide hands-on field service support for power transformers, helping customers install, maintain, and restore critical electrical assets. Your work will include installation and commissioning, maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and end-of-life services-often performed on-site in challenging field conditions. You will interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, follow technical manuals, and complete detailed service activities that support equipment reliability and safe operation. Working closely with service colleagues and customers, your day-to-day contributions will help extend transformer life, improve performance, and support the dependable operation of power grid infrastructure.
How You'll Make an Impact
  • Perform on-site and remote service activities including installation, commissioning, maintenance, repairs, upgrades, retrofits, and replacements
  • Support customer operations by addressing technical issues and anticipating service needs
  • Read and work from electrical and mechanical drawings, instructions, and technical manuals
  • Complete internal transformer work such as bushing connections, lead clearance, tapping, crimping, taping, and contoured joints
  • Repair, re-gasket, assemble, and disassemble transformer equipment as directed
  • Operate and maintain vacuum oil processing and oil handling equipment with direction, including completing required logs
  • Coordinate logistics for service jobs, including tools, resources, and spare parts
  • Contribute ideas for product and process improvements that enhance operations and customer service
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Associate Degree with 2 years of professional work experience or High School Diploma/GED with 5 years of professional work experience
  • Broad knowledge of transformer field service operations and transformer field testing
  • Familiarity with transformer installation and assembly, vacuum and oil processing, and internal transformer components
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel up to 85%
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs and climbing ladders
