How Youโ€™ll Make a Difference (Essential Functions)

The Benefits and Compensation Analyst advances Agraceโ€™s total rewards strategy by pairing strong benefits and compensation expertise with accurate, compliant day-to-day administration. This role analyzes market trends, internal data, employee feedback, and program utilization to inform recommendations that support workforce experience, employee retention, fiscal stewardship, and organizational priorities. The position also ensures benefit and compensation programs are administered consistently, communicated clearly, and delivered in partnership with HR, Payroll, leadership, benefits brokers, vendors, and employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Benefits
    • Engage in benefits strategy meetings with benefits broker and leadership stakeholders.
    • Translate benefits strategy into operational plans, timelines, communications, reporting, and employee-facing processes that support effective execution.
    • Administer all employee benefits programs including health, dental, vision, flexible spending, disability, life, retirement, deferred compensation, and EAP programs.ย 
    • Facilitate the annual benefits renewal and open enrollment processes for all employee benefits.
    • Oversee the enrollment/change processes for staff entering/leaving benefit eligible status; administer new hire enrollment and benefit orientation.ย ย 
    • Manage communication content and methods for various wellness, compensation, and benefit campaigns; partner with retirement vendor, benefits broker, and other carriers as appropriate to provide ongoing education for employees to increase visibility and participation.ย ย 
    • Assist in development of materials that explain benefits in a clear and comprehensible manner and drive enthusiasm, both for current employees and prospective hires.ย 
    • Manage benefits-related regulatory and reporting processes (5500, ACA, SPDs, etc.); partner with Payroll to issue all benefit-related notices as required by law; participate in annual retirement plan audits.ย 
    • Respond to complex employee benefit questions and resolve employee, vendor, and Payroll questions or concerns regarding plan eligibility, coverage, enrollment, qualifying events, premiums, and payments.
    • Compile both quantitative and qualitative employee feedback data and analyze benefit usage; regularly assess and define benefit programs and opportunities to meet employee priorities and increase usage.ย 
    • Review and evaluate self-funded health insurance claims data with assistance from our benefits broker and carrier(s) to develop and implement health and wellness initiatives and programs.ย 
    • Generate benefits-related reports and data as needed; assume responsibility for compiling all needed data before, during, and after benefits renewal and open enrollment periods.
    • Coordinate with Payroll, HR leadership, and benefits broker as necessary to ensure all programs, policies, and procedures comply with current legislation.
    • Document processes, cross train, and update the full HR team on the subject area as necessary;ย maintain accuracy and completeness of all benefit recordkeeping.
  • Compensation
    • Track compensation benchmarking data; gather internal and external data to identify trends and propose creative and equitable pay programs to keep Agrace competitive.
    • Support the ongoing development, administration, and communication of compensation structures, practices, and guidelines to promote internal equity, market competitiveness, consistency, and alignment with Agraceโ€™s compensation philosophy.
    • Ensure standardized job descriptions are up to date and accurate through job evaluation processes.
    • Conduct regular compensation market analyses and propose recommendations of adjustments as needed, under the guidance of HR leadership.
    • Support HR leadership with the annual compensation increase process, as well as compensation reviews for new/modified positions requested by executive leadership.
    • Maintain accurate compensation data, tools, documentation, and workflows to support timely decision-making, consistent application, and effective implementation of approved compensation actions.
    • Participate in annual market review of executive compensation packages.ย 
    • Partner with HR and Talent Acquisition leadership to establish and continually reevaluate a competitive structure for offer norms and standards for frequently filled roles.
  • Employee Protections and HR Support
    • Administer workersโ€™ compensation processes and provide input on claims issues.
    • Oversee Wisconsin and Federal Family Medical Leaves of absence and personal leaves of absence.ย 
    • Manage ADA accommodations and request process and return to work issues.
    • Help prepare written responses for EEO, Unemployment, and Workers Compensation queries.ย 
    • Interpret, communicate, and administer human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards and government regulations. Provide coaching to management, collaborate with legal counsel as appropriate.
    • Advocate for and promote strategies to enhance diversity (of culture, race, ethnicity, gender, ability, thought, etc.) as well as support policies and programs relating to equal employment opportunity.
    • Assist in the development and facilitation of supervisory training programs, especially compensation philosophy, structure, and conversation best practices.ย 
  • Other Dutiesย 
    • Participate in internal work groups, meetings and committees relative to position responsibilities.

You Bring (Qualifications)

  • 5+ yearsโ€™ experience as an HR generalist or 3+ years as a benefits/compensation specialist.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license, auto insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to research and analyze benefit costs and opportunities and implement potential solutions.
  • Ability to connect detailed data analysis, compliance requirements, employee experience insights, and organizational priorities to practical recommendations and reliable execution.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite skills, esp. Excel.
  • Experience using industry standard software
  • Thorough understanding of job evaluation and job analysis systems; familiarity with labor legislation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate (both verbally and in writing_ and work effectively and cooperatively with a wide variety of audience
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to be flexible in time and task to meet organizational needs.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality about patients, families, caregivers, staff, donors, and organizational intellectual propert
