Job description

Restore Leadership Capacity. Drive Meaningful Change.

2pmFIX is a boutique people and organizational change firm dedicated to empowering leaders at the intersection of growth and complexity. We believe that when a business struggles to reach its next level, the obstacle is often a people problem. We don’t do "off-the-shelf"; we build customized, rigorous solutions through our proprietary FIX Operating System to help teams thrive.

We are seeking a Consulting HR Director who is a functional expert, a candid advisor, and a future-focused thinker ready to deliver senior-level expertise across multiple client engagements. This is a high-autonomy role supporting clients across multiple industries and growth stages.

This role requires an individual who can leverage deep HR functional expertise, provide strategic counsel with precision, and navigate organizational complexity while partnering directly with business leaders to solve interesting challenges. This is a consulting role, not an internal HR role. You are not managing HR for 2pmFIX. You are delivering senior-level HR expertise across multiple client engagements simultaneously, partnering closely with the Lead Consultant on each client, and ensuring that the work we produce is both rigorous and specific to each client's context. The Consulting HR Director is expected to embody the FIX values and 2pm’s passion for co-creating excellent client outcomes. This is a full-time, remote position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a credible advisor for C-Level executives and Boards, balancing strategic framing with deep operational insights
  • Deliver senior-level expertise across all areas of HR including employment law, compensation, compliance, performance management, and employee relations
  • Design and own client-specific solutions and deliverables, ensuring all assessments, audits and recommendations are evidence-based, defensible and rigorous
  • Establish and track HR metrics to rigorously assess, benchmark, and measure the impact of HR initiatives throughout the engagement
  • Partner with the Lead Consultant, People Strategy (LCPS) to develop recommendations at the 80% mark, favoring iterative, collaborative review
  • Contribute to 2pm methodology by sharing functional knowledge, identifying patterns for innovation, and actively improving internal systems and processes
  • Maintain fiduciary advocacy by tracking hours and managing client resources effectively
  • Ensure quality and timeliness of all deliverables align with 2pm standards and client’s needs

Requirements & Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive, senior-level experience across full spectrum of HR functions
  • Expertise in federal and state employment laws including California
  • Occasional travel to in-person company events and client events
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior organizational leaders on people operations and problems
  • Change management experience (such as scaling organizations, strategic communications, leadership alignment, culture architecture, organizational restructuring, and HRIS/system implementation)
  • Strong team player, supportive of strategic leads, and ego-free in client relations
  • The courage to challenge leadership decisions when necessary; silence on concerns is viewed as a performance failure
  • Commitment to data-driven, client-specific recommendations
  • Discretion in managing confidential information and sensitive employee relations
  • Superior verbal and written communication
  • Adaptable across communication platforms (phone, slack, email, various video platforms)
  • Comfortability or willingness to learn AI and automation tools to increase efficiency
  • Familiarity with HRIS platforms
  • Coaching experience a plus
  • Located in NC is a plus

Why This Role

This position offers the opportunity to operate as a senior strategic advisor across multiple clients and industries, applying deep functional expertise to solve complex organizational challenges. You will serve as the trusted HR authority, directly influencing leaders to create scalable, evidence-based people strategies that build sustainable, high-performing cultures.

What this role is not

  • An internal HR role — you are a consultant and operate as one
  • The primary client relationship owner — that belongs to the Lead Consultant; you are the expert voice, not the point person
  • A role for someone who avoids difficult conversations — clarity over comfort is a professional obligation
  • For those who are not interested in learning new technology and leveraging AI and automation tools to increase efficiency
  • A solo act — this role requires genuine partnership with the Lead Consultant, the CDM, and the broader team
  • A credential-first environment — your judgment, discretion, and character matter more than your resume

What we offer

  • Salary range for this role is $100,000 to $110,000
  • Remote-first environment
  • Generous PTO Policy
  • Sick Leave
  • Parental Leave
  • Growth opportunities
  • Medical Insurance
  • Dental Insurance
  • Vision Insurance
  • HSA Plans (Health Savings Accounts)
  • Telemedicine Benefits
  • Employee Assistance Plan (EAP)
  • Basic Life Insurance
  • Parental Leave Benefits
  • 401(k) Plan
  • Voluntary Life & AD&D Benefits
  • Voluntary Disability Insurance
  • Voluntary Accident Insurance
  • Voluntary Pet Insurance
  • Voluntary Legal / ID Protection
