Job description

Fractional CFO | Accounting Manager | Strategic Business Advisor

100% Remote | Amazing Work-Life Balance | Advisory-Focused Firm | Base to $135K

  • You know you're capable of more than closing the books.
  • You enjoy financial analysis, forecasting, and helping business owners make better decisions.
  • You can roll up your sleeves and clean up accounting when necessary, but what really energizes you is sitting across from a business owner and helping them understand the story behind the numbers.
  • You enjoy building processes.
  • You enjoy leading people.
  • You enjoy taking complexity and turning it into clarity.
  • And you're looking for a role where you can wear multiple hats, have meaningful client impact, and continue growing professionally.

If that's you, keep reading.

About the Opportunity

We're partnering with a growing, entrepreneurial advisory firm that works closely with small and mid-sized businesses across multiple industries.

This is not a role where you'll spend your days buried in spreadsheets and month-end closes.

This is an opportunity to become a trusted advisor to business owners who need strategic financial leadership but aren't yet ready for a full-time CFO.

You'll work directly with clients to help them:

โ€ข Understand their financial performance and key business drivers

โ€ข Improve profitability and cash flow

โ€ข Build budgets, forecasts, and financial models

โ€ข Create meaningful KPI dashboards and reporting packages

โ€ข Make better business decisions using real-time financial information

โ€ข Navigate periods of growth, change, and complexity

You'll also play an important leadership role internally by supporting and developing the firm's accounting team and helping ensure exceptional client delivery.

What You'll Be Doing

โ€ข Serve as a Fractional CFO and strategic advisor to multiple clients

โ€ข Lead financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management initiatives

โ€ข Review and interpret financial statements and communicate insights in a way business owners can understand

โ€ข Develop KPI reporting, dashboards, and performance metrics

โ€ข Conduct client meetings focused on actionable recommendations and business improvement opportunities

โ€ข Review accounting work completed by internal team members and client personnel

โ€ข Assist with bookkeeping cleanup projects and onboarding of new clients when needed

โ€ข Support financial software implementation and process improvement initiatives

โ€ข Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to the firm's accounting team

โ€ข Help business owners gain confidence and clarity in their financial decision-making

What Success Looks Like

You're someone who:

โ€ข Can zoom out and think strategically while still understanding the details

โ€ข Communicates complex financial concepts in simple, practical terms

โ€ข Enjoys working directly with entrepreneurs and leadership teams

โ€ข Thrives in an environment where no two days look exactly alike

โ€ข Is comfortable moving between advisory work, team leadership, and hands-on problem solving

โ€ข Takes ownership and enjoys creating order from complexity

โ€ข Wants to help build something rather than simply maintain the status quo

What We're Looking For

โ€ข 8+ years overall accounting experience

โ€ข 3+ years of experience in a CFO, Controller, Accounting Manager, Client Advisory, or senior finance leadership role

โ€ข Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cash flow management

โ€ข Experience working with small and mid-sized businesses

โ€ข Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial statement analysis

โ€ข Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Excel

โ€ข Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

โ€ข Prior team leadership, supervision, or mentoring experience preferred

โ€ข CPA, CMA, or CFA credentials are highly valued

Why This Role Is Different

Most accounting leadership roles ask you to manage processes.

This one asks you to influence outcomes.

Most finance roles focus on reporting history.

This one helps business owners shape the future.

Most positions put you in one lane.

This opportunity allows you to be a strategist, coach, advisor, and leader all in the same week.

If you're looking for a role where your financial expertise can genuinely change a business's trajectory and create meaningful impact for clients and teammates alike, we'd love to have a conversation.
