What is a remote CCTV sewer inspection?

Remote CCTV sewer inspection jobs involve operating specialized camera equipment to inspect the interior of sewer and drainage pipes. Technicians use remotely controlled cameras to capture video footage, identify blockages, structural defects, or other issues within pipelines. These inspections help cities, utility companies, and private contractors maintain sewer systems efficiently and safely, often reducing the need for manual entry into confined spaces. The role may also include generating reports and recommending repairs based on the video findings. These jobs can often be performed from a central location, making them suitable for remote or field-based work.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a remote CCTV sewer inspection technician?

To thrive as a Remote CCTV Sewer Inspection Technician, you need a solid understanding of sewer systems, mechanical aptitude, and typically a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with specialized CCTV inspection equipment, data logging software, and pipe assessment technologies is essential. Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and effective communication are key soft skills in this field. These abilities ensure accurate inspections, safety compliance, and clear reporting, which are vital for maintaining infrastructure and preventing costly issues.
