Network Engineer – 12-month Contract

  • Reports to Director, IT Operations
  • Remote role – Preference for Florida candidates - Onsite presence may be required at times in Orlando, FL.  
  • Travel 20% - depending on business needs
  • ASAP Start date – This is a full time, fixed-term, 12-month contract role
  • Fortinet networks experience a must

The Network Engineer will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining secure and reliable network infrastructures for our SunState Medical practice located in Florida. Working closely with the IT team and practice managers, you will ensure seamless connectivity, optimize network performance, and contribute to the overall success of our healthcare operations.  Your expertise will contribute to safeguarding sensitive healthcare data and maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our systems and information. This role will also be instrumental execution of major IT projects and lifecycle refresh of practice network hardware. 

This is a full time, fixed-term, 12 month contract role. Onsite presence may be required at times in Orlando, FL.  

 Responsibilities 

  • Design and implement robust and scalable network architectures for SunState Medical, considering factors such as security, performance, and reliability. 
  • Configure and deploy network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and access points, ensuring proper connectivity and integration. 
  • Assist with project execution tasks throughout the SMS Practices and the Orlando datacenter. 
  • Implement and maintain network security measures to safeguard sensitive patient data and comply with healthcare security regulations (e.g., HIPAA, HITRUST). 
  • Monitor and analyze network traffic for anomalies and security breaches, taking proactive measures to mitigate risks. 
  • Monitor network performance and analyze data to identify bottlenecks, latency issues, and other network-related problems. 
  • Optimize network configurations and protocols to ensure efficient data transmission and reliable connectivity. 
  • Diagnose and resolve network issues, collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to ensure timely resolution. 
  • Conduct root cause analysis of network incidents and implement preventive measures. 
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and procedures. 
  • Plan and execute network upgrades, patches, and firmware updates to ensure network reliability and security. 
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules with minimal disruption to clinical operations. 
  • Provide guidance and mentorship, sharing knowledge and best practices 
  • Other duties as assigned to help drive our mission of improving the lives of everyone living with cancer.

  • 3+ years of experience with technical hands-on technical Network Engineering roles.  
  • Fortinet networks experience required. 
  • Palo Alto Firewall Experience is a plus. 
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing complex network environments, preferably in a healthcare or medical practice setting. 
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, routing, switching, security, and troubleshooting techniques. 
  • Familiarity with healthcare compliance standards such as HIPAA and HITRUST. 
  • Proficiency in network monitoring and management tools. 
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. 
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
