Job description

Velocity is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager (Low-Voltage) with expertise in structured cabling, network infrastructure, and low-voltage systems implementation. The ideal candidate will oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of complex projects involving voice, data, security, and integrated technology systems. This role requires a strong balance of construction project management and technical systems integration to ensure seamless deployment of low-voltage infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning amp; Management
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, budgets, and schedules for low-voltage system installations and infrastructure deployments.
  • Manage all phases of projects including design coordination, permitting, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Coordinate with electrical engineers, general contractors, and design teams to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and safety standards.
  • Oversee subcontractors, technicians, and vendors to ensure milestones are achieved on time and within budget.
  • Conduct regular project status meetings, progress reviews, and risk assessments to proactively address issues.
Low Voltage Systems and IT Implementation
  • Lead the deployment of structured cabling systems (Cat 5, Cat 6, fiber optics), AV systems, and low-voltage infrastructure.
  • Oversee installation and integration of systems including:
    • Access control
    • Video surveillance (CCTV)
    • Intrusion detection systems
    • Wireless networks (Wi-Fi)
    • Distributed antenna systems (DAS)
    • Paging and intercom systems
  • Ensure proper testing, labeling, documentation, and certification of all installed systems.
  • Collaborate with IT teams and system integrators to ensure seamless interoperability and network performance.
Stakeholder Coordination
  • Serve as the primary liaison between clients, contractors, engineers, IT teams, and internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare and deliver project updates, technical documentation, and executive-level reports.
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes, NEC standards, and industry best practices.
  • Support client handoff, training, and post-installation support processes.
Financial amp; Risk Management
  • Manage project budgets, forecasting, and cost control to ensure profitability.
  • Oversee change orders, contract administration, and procurement processes.
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimize delays and cost overruns.
  • Track KPIs related to project performance, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Education, Skills amp; Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in project management within low-voltage, telecommunications, or electrical construction environments.
  • Strong knowledge of low-voltage systems including structured cabling, fiber optics, and security systems.
  • Experience managing commercial, industrial, or multi-site infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, or Primavera).
  • Familiarity with industry standards (BICSI, NEC, TIA/EIA).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management credential.
  • BICSI certification (RCDD, TECH, or equivalent).
  • Experience with large-scale deployments such as campuses, healthcare, hospitality, or data centers.
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure, IoT systems, and smart building technologies.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, high-volume project environments.
