About JerseySTEM
All JerseySTEM roles are pro-bono (unpaid) positions.
JerseySTEM is a mission-driven professional network of pro-bono contributors dedicated to improving access to STEM education and career pathways for underserved middle school girls in New Jersey.
Members contribute their professional skills and leverage their networks in service of the organization's gender-equity agenda.
Membership is a minimum six-month commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week and includes a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership. K-12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit.
Overview
This is a pro-bono position.
JerseySTEM is looking for talented professionals across our departments to commit time and energy as long-term engagement for our mission to provide STEM education to underrepresented middle school girls.
The Vyond Animations Author will support JerseySTEM by creating engaging animated videos that communicate our mission, programs, impact, and educational content in a clear, creative, and accessible way.
Responsibilities
  • Create animated videos using Vyond for educational, institutional, and promotional purposes
  • Transform scripts, concepts, or raw ideas into compelling visual storytelling
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Social Media, and Program teams to align animations with campaign goals and brand voice
  • Adapt animations for different audiences, including students, volunteers, donors, and partners
  • Edit and revise animations based on feedback and evolving needs
  • Ensure consistency with JerseySTEM's visual identity and messaging
  • Organize and maintain animation assets and templates for reuse

Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of experience creating animations or motion-based content (professional, academic, or portfolio-based experience accepted)
  • Strong proficiency with Vyond (required)
  • Ability to translate abstract or educational concepts into engaging visual narratives
  • Basic understanding of storytelling, pacing, and visual communication
  • Strong organization skills and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Comfortable collaborating in a remote, volunteer-based environment
  • Familiarity with Google tools (Docs, Slides, Sheets)
  • Experience with video editing or design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite) is a plus
  • Diligent work ethic, creativity, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn
  • Commitment 5-10 hours per week (average)
  • Remote position
