Job description

Strategic Risk Solutions Inc. (SRS) is seeking a Sales Associate to join Garnet Captive Services. This role is responsible for supporting business growth in California by expanding upon existing broker, agency, and referral relationships while developing new business opportunities within an assigned territory. The Sales Associate will work closely with the Managing Director to support growth plans, educate brokers and prospects on group captive solutions, and build long-term agency relationships through a consultative, relationship-driven sales approach.
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Support the Managing Director with existing broker, agency, and referral relationships across California.
  • Develop new business opportunities through cold calling, networking, referrals, in-person meetings, LinkedIn, and other digital outreach methods.
  • Create and maintain Centers of Influence (COI) and build productive agency relationships in assigned markets.
  • Leverage Salesforce, internal prospect databases, and other available resources to identify, track, and follow up on warm leads and new opportunities.
  • Expand market presence in underserved territories while maintaining momentum with established relationships.
  • Represent Garnet in face-to-face meetings with brokers, prospects, referral partners, and other market contacts.
  • Learn, understand, and effectively communicate the group captive value proposition to brokers, agencies, and prospective members.
  • Review new business submissions and related underwriting information in partnership with internal underwriting, service, carrier, and vendor partners.
  • Support the execution of California growth plans, including work in the Bay Area and surrounding markets.
  • Deliver effective presentations in a variety of settings, including one-on-one meetings, agency meetings, small groups, and larger presentations.
  • Partner cross-functionally with account management, underwriting, and operational teams to support client service, submission flow, and program growth.
  • Participate in training, product education, and field development activities during the onboarding and ramp-up period.

Attributes and Skills:
  • Property & Casualty license required
  • Commercial Property & Casualty insurance experience required; 5+ years of relevant insurance experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in account management, account executive, underwriting, broker support, carrier marketing, agency development, or related commercial insurance roles strongly preferred.
  • Strong business development aptitude with interest in transitioning into or growing within a consultative sales role.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills, both in person and virtually.
  • High level of curiosity, coachability, resilience, open-mindedness, and willingness to ask questions.
  • Self-directed, organized, and able to manage follow-up activity, pipeline details, and competing priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Salesforce or CRM experience preferred.
  • Prior captive insurance experience is not required; willingness to learn the group captive model is expected.
  • Ability to travel for in-person broker, agency, prospect, and team meetings as required.
  • Ability and willingness to maintain an active field presence and travel throughout the assigned territory, proactively developing new business by regularly calling on agencies, brokers, referral partners, and prospective clients to identify opportunities and build relationships.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $95,000 - $115,000 annually. Compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
