Remote Capacity Engineer information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Capacity Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Capacity Engineer, you need a solid background in systems engineering, performance analysis, and capacity planning, usually supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with monitoring tools like Nagios, Prometheus, or Grafana, and experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure are typically required. Strong analytical thinking, effective communication, and self-motivation are crucial soft skills for collaborating remotely and addressing capacity challenges proactively. These skills ensure optimal system performance, cost efficiency, and reliable scalability for distributed environments.

How does a Remote Capacity Engineer typically collaborate with distributed teams to manage and optimize system performance?

As a Remote Capacity Engineer, you'll work closely with cross-functional teams—including DevOps, product managers, and infrastructure engineers—using collaboration tools like Slack, Jira, and video conferencing to monitor, analyze, and forecast system resource needs. Regular communication is essential to ensure all stakeholders are aware of current capacities, upcoming demands, and recommendations for scaling. You'll often participate in virtual stand-ups, review system metrics with team members, and coordinate capacity planning efforts across different time zones. This collaborative, remote environment encourages proactive problem-solving and continuous learning.

What is a Remote Capacity Engineer?

A Remote Capacity Engineer is an IT professional responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing the capacity and performance of computer systems and networks from a remote location. Their primary role is to ensure that infrastructure resources—such as servers, storage, and network bandwidth—are sufficient to meet current and future business demands. They use specialized tools to forecast usage trends, plan for scalability, and prevent system bottlenecks. By working remotely, they can support organizations with distributed systems and cloud-based environments without being physically present onsite.

Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: Base USD $150,000-$170,000+ + Commission (OTE $300,000-$400,000+)

About the Client

Inner Circle Agency is hiring on behalf of a well-established, privately held industrial technology company operating globally across North America and Europe.

The organization specializes in power infrastructure and electrical protection solutions, with a strong footprint in telecommunications and industrial applications. They are actively expanding their presence in the data center space, supporting large-scale, high-value infrastructure projects across the U.S.

With approximately 2,000 employees worldwide and growing investment in U.S. operations, the company offers the agility of a mid-sized firm with the backing and resources to support major enterprise clients.

Role Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior Sales Manager to drive business development within the data center and large-scale infrastructure market.

This is a high-impact, revenue-generating role focused on building and expanding relationships with key stakeholders across hyperscale data centers, large contractors, and developers. The successful candidate will play a critical role in growing a new and strategic business line, with the opportunity to build out a team over time.

This position is ideal for a senior sales professional with an established network and the ability to generate and close high-value deals independently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan targeting data center and large infrastructure projects across the U.S.

  • Leverage an existing network to generate new business opportunities and secure high-value contracts

  • Build relationships with key decision-makers including contractors, developers, and enterprise end users

  • Drive the full sales cycle from prospecting through deal closure

  • Collaborate with internal engineering, project management, and manufacturing teams to deliver tailored solutions

  • Represent the company in client meetings, presentations, and industry engagements

  • Identify and pursue direct-to-client opportunities, bypassing traditional intermediary channels where applicable

  • Contribute to long-term growth strategy, including potential team build-out

QualificationsRequired
  • Proven experience in data center sales or infrastructure-related sales

  • Strong track record of generating revenue and closing large-scale deals

  • Existing relationships with key players in the data center ecosystem (e.g., contractors, developers, end users)

  • Ability to operate independently in a business development capacity

  • Experience managing complex sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders

  • Willingness to travel as needed to meet clients and drive business

Preferred
  • Experience selling power infrastructure, switchgear, or related electrical solutions

  • Background working with hyperscalers or large enterprise clients

  • Experience in roles such as Sales Manager, Sales Director, or Business Development Manager within relevant industries

What the Client Offers
  • Competitive base salary with high earning potential (OTE $300K–$400K+)

  • Commission structure tied to revenue generation and deal performance

  • Opportunity to build and lead a sales function within a growing business line

  • Strong internal support including engineering, project management, and manufacturing teams

  • High visibility role with direct exposure to senior leadership

  • Autonomy to build, grow, and own a market segment

  • Backing of an established global organization with significant growth investment in the U.S.

Additional Notes
  • This is a U.S.-based role with flexibility on location, provided candidates are able to travel as needed

  • The position is focused on new business generation, not account management

  • Ideal candidates are entrepreneurial, relationship-driven, and motivated by high earning potential tied to performance
