About Us:

We are a small close-knit team of highly technical engineers with diverse backgrounds. Our engineering culture values lean development and data-driven practices. Together, we are building a robust, feature-rich, and easy-to-use eCommerce platform that powers online shopping for thousands of dispensaries and brands. We're AI-enabled, not AI-driven. AI tools (Claude, AI-assisted reviews, generated plans) are part of how we work, but the engineering judgement behind every decision is human.

What You Will Do
  • Implement, test and maintain new user-facing functionality on our eCommerce platform

  • Build scalable backend services and APIs that power our web applications

  • Partner with other senior engineers to contribute to high level decisions about the architecture and design.

  • Engage with Product Managers to make Jane's eCommerce storefront offerings sound, robust, and easy to use.

  • Help communicate and implement best practices across the engineering team.

  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, and other Engineers through design reviews, feature planning, and code reviews.

  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.

Qualifications
  • 4+ years of professional software engineering experience in a product-centered team.

  • Demonstrates senior-level ownership: independently navigates ambiguity and proactively moves work forward without waiting for direction.

  • Experience building frontend React applications, ideally in eCommerce, marketplaces, or high-traffic consumer web. Hands-on with one or more of: product discovery and search/browse experiences, cart and checkout flows, or performance optimization for conversion-critical pages. You understand the constraints that make eCommerce frontend distinct: SEO best practices for organic discovery at scale, and building embedded or white-label experiences that perform seamlessly across many partner sites and brands.

  • Systems-level problem solver: comfortable navigating ambiguous, high-complexity challenges across distributed systems and infrastructure.

  • Strong Computer Science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, and code design principles.

  • Proficiency in Javascript/Typescript and React, with a demonstrated ability to pick up new languages and adapt to a rapidly evolving stack. Experience with Ruby on Rails is preferred but not required, and server-side JavaScript experience is a plus.

  • Base level familiarity with relational databases.

  • Strong technical communication: expresses ideas clearly through well-crafted code, written documentation, and team communication with both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Collaborative by nature: as eager to mentor and share knowledge as to learn from others, with a genuine passion for craft and how great software gets built

$170,000 - $205,000 a year
The compensation range for this position is $170,000-$205,000 annually in addition to benefits and equity. The starting compensation is based on various factors such as skills, experience, training, and business needs. The range of a role and compensation provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop at Jane.
Our Benefits:
Great compensation package and equity
Health, Dental, Vision, 401k, Unlimited PTO, and home office stipend
