Job Summary

Aurora Cannabis Inc. is currently seeking a Senior Accountant - Corporate Accounting & Consolidations to join our Finance team on a 13-month contract. Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Accounting & Consolidations, the Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting the Company's month-end and quarter-end close, consolidation, financial reporting, and internal control processes.

Working collaboratively with multiple Finance teams, this role will support accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with IFRS, provide meaningful financial analysis, and contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting and reporting processes. As a Senior Accountant you will...

  • Support the monthly, quarterly and annual close processes, ensuring assigned deliverables are completed accurately and within established timelines
  • Perform key components of the quarterly consolidation process, including preparation and review of consolidation and elimination entries across multiple entities and currencies
  • Prepare and review financial reporting packages for multiple reporting units in accordance with IFRS, working closely with global accounting teams to investigate and resolve reporting matters
  • Prepare, review and finalize journal entries, account reconciliations and supporting working papers, ensuring appropriate documentation and accounting treatment
  • Perform detailed balance sheet and income statement variance analysis, investigate significant or unusual movements, and provide clear explanations to management
  • Support the preparation of quarterly and annual financial reporting deliverables and related supporting schedules
  • Maintain and execute assigned internal controls, ensuring appropriate supporting documentation and timely resolution of identified issues
  • Support quarterly reviews and year-end audits by preparing audit schedules, responding to auditor requests and coordinating supporting documentation
  • Work collaboratively with regional and functional Finance teams to resolve accounting and reporting issues and support consistent application of accounting policies
  • Provide accounting support for new business initiatives, transactions and other cross-functional projects as required
  • Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency, accuracy and effectiveness of existing accounting, close and reporting processes, and support implementation of approved improvements
  • Maintain strong documentation of accounting processes, reconciliations and key reporting activities
  • Perform other ad hoc duties as needed

You will be setup for success if you have...

  • CPA designation required
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting and/or financial reporting experience
  • Experience with financial close, consolidations and preparation of financial reporting packages.
  • Experience working within a multi-entity and/or multi-currency organization preferred
  • Public company accounting and reporting experience preferred
  • Experience working with ERP and financial consolidation/reporting systems considered an asset
  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting, reconciliations and financial reporting
