Big Cedar Counseling Services is inviting applications for a dedicated and skilled Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) to join our compassionate team. This full-time role allows for remote work, providing essential psychosocial support within a hospice setting located in Renton, Washington. • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments of patients and their families, identifying emotional, social, and environmental needs related to diagnosis, treatment, and overall well-being.
• Develop and implement tailored treatment plans, utilizing evidence-based interventions and therapies to assist patients in coping with illness and hospitalization.
• Engage in regular communication with the healthcare team to coordinate care and provide effective discharge planning, aligning with each patient’s unique needs.
• Utilize your expertise to educate patients and families on coping strategies, enhancing their quality of life and supporting their mental health.
• Provide crisis intervention services and conduct brief or long-term individual, group, and family therapy as required.
• Facilitate discharge planning with a multidisciplinary approach, collaborating closely with consulting physicians and third-party payers.
• Serve as a resource for other staff by providing consultation and guidance on complex psychosocial issues.
• Participate in on-call rotations to manage after-hours patient support needs effectively.
• Clinically evaluate oncology patients, assessing concerns such as depression and anxiety, and administer short-term therapeutic interventions.
• Present as a subject matter expert at educational conferences, contributing to the wider understanding of psychosocial oncology practice.
• Create connections within the community through volunteer work and proactive engagement with local resources to promote support for cancer survivors.

The LICSW will primarily work with patients facing terminal illnesses, helping them and their families navigate the complexities of end-of-life care. This role demands sensitivity and expertise in understanding the psychosocial dynamics that affect patients with life-threatening diagnoses, ensuring that both their psychological and emotional needs are met compassionately and effectively.

• Current LICSW license in the state of Washington.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or a related field is required. A Master's degree in Social Work is preferred.
• Strong understanding of clinical social work practices, particularly in palliative and hospice settings.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with patients and families.
• Proficiency in telehealth and remote communication tools.
• Adept at crisis intervention and patient-centered counseling techniques.

• Prior experience in a hospice or oncology setting is highly desirable.
• Experience with multidisciplinary team collaboration and an understanding of discharge planning processes.
• Familiarity with the Baker Act and involuntary examinations is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to present educational content for peer training and community engagement.
