What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Cancer Support Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Cancer Support Specialist, you need a background in healthcare, counseling, or social work—often with a relevant degree and knowledge of oncology care. Familiarity with telehealth platforms, case management systems, and secure communication tools is typically required. Outstanding listening skills, empathy, and the ability to provide clear, compassionate support remotely are vital for building trust with patients and families. These skills ensure patients receive emotional guidance, accurate information, and continuity of care in a virtual environment.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in remote cancer support roles, and how are they addressed?

Professionals in remote cancer support often encounter challenges such as building rapport with patients virtually, managing sensitive conversations, and coordinating care across distance. These challenges are typically addressed by leveraging secure telehealth platforms, undergoing specialized communication training, and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary healthcare teams. Regular virtual meetings, clear documentation, and ongoing training in empathetic listening are key strategies that help ensure patients receive comprehensive and compassionate support despite the lack of in-person interaction.

What is a Remote Cancer Support specialist?

A Remote Cancer Support specialist is a professional who provides guidance, resources, and emotional support to cancer patients and their families through virtual means such as phone calls, video conferencing, or online chat. They help patients navigate treatment options, understand their diagnosis, and connect with relevant support services, all from a distance. This role can be filled by nurses, counselors, social workers, or trained support staff, and it is designed to make cancer care more accessible and less isolating for those who cannot attend in-person appointments.

Job description

Your Future Team

Highland Private Wealth Management is a multi-office advisory practice with locations in Bellevue and Ellensburg, providing comprehensive wealth advisory and investment guidance to high-net-worth individuals and families. As a growth-focused practice, Highland is dedicated to helping clients maximize their return on money and life—aligning financial decisions with what matters most. The team takes an integrated approach to wealth management, partnering closely with clients and their broader network of advisors to deliver thoughtful, strategic outcomes over time.

Highland’s philosophy centers on connecting financial success with purpose, empowering clients to live fully while building and protecting their wealth. This is an ideal environment for entrepreneurial professionals: ownership, business development, and meaningful client impact are core to the role. For advisors looking to build and scale their own practice, deepen client relationships, and thrive in a high-performance yet supportive culture, Highland offers a platform where ambition translates into real opportunity. While the role is primarily on-site, it can be based out of either the Bellevue or Ellensburg office, with remote flexibility considered based on experience and location.

What You’ll Do

  • Engage directly with clients to understand their financial goals and needs
  • Build and grow a personal book of business through proactive, strategic business development
  • Manage and deepen client relationships following acquisition
  • Monitor market trends and participate in ongoing investment strategy discussions
  • Meet or exceed revenue targets set for client acquisition
  • Design and deliver tailored client service and planning experiences
  • Collaborate with external advisors (e.g., CPAs, attorneys) to enhance client outcomes
  • Actively expand professional network through events and relationship-building efforts
  • Contribute to and uphold a high-performance, client-first culture

What You’ll Bring

  • At least 5 years of experience as an Advisor in wealth management
  • Proven track record of growing a book of business
  • Series 65 (or equivalent) certification
  • Primarily on-site, remote option may be available for non-local candidates dependent upon experience and client base
  • Professional designation (CFP®, CFA, CPA, JD) is preferred
  • Bachelor's degree is required

What We Offer

  • Coverage on the first day of employment for medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid parental leave (16 weeks for primary caregiver and 8 weeks for secondary caregiver)
  • 401k matching plan
  • HSA employer contributions
  • Student loan assistance
  • Pet insurance
  • Base salary of $160,000-$170,000 plus discretionary bonus (exact base salary amount will be dependent on experience)
