Position Overview

  • Act as key advisory to the Business Unit / Functional leadership team as well as a key contributor to McCormick's Enterprise Architecture (EA) strategy, engaging in a highly collaborative way to understand the business domain including strategic business needs and roadmaps; collaborate with the functional area to solve unique and high complex technology Architecture or business-significant problems, build capabilities, and shape technology strategy.
  • Act as a primary architecture domain expert in the accountable capability area; Lead the development of architecture strategy, roadmaps, and guardrails. Utilize business capability models, technology reference models, and functional area roadmaps to guide investment decisions in support of executing business and IT strategy. 
  • Represent capability domain needs within Enterprise Architecture. Track and apply emerging innovative and existing technologies, anchoring them in the business model to assess their potential, and help to evolve innovations.
  • Influence and contribute EA and Global IT’s strategic goals, maintaining central awareness of value stream, business capability map, and changes to architecture roadmaps. Guide pragmatic alignment to global IT standards and EA Guiding Principles

Key Responsibilities

  • Works on complex projects that require in-depth knowledge of a specialized capability within their architecture domain, providing architectural designs and guidance.
  • Act as a trusted advisor in service to Product Line leader on the Product Line leadership team.   Work to solve the product lines challenges through design, strategy, and solutions
  • Lead solution architecture within projects and products to align to enterprise strategy and standards while pragmatically solving for the requirements and optimization both within the product and across the enterprise.
  • Participates in the creation of governing principles and standards to guide architecture decision making. Identifies exceptions to architectural standards at an enterprise level and facilitates resolution. Reviews and/or analyzes and develops architectural and security requirements as needed for the organization.
  • Performs research on emerging technologies in support of systems development efforts and recommends technologies that will improve cost effectiveness and systems flexibility. Develop, document, and communicate plans for investing in systems architecture, including analysis of cost reduction opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 8+ Years of IT experience, with a significant amount of time spent in an engineering / architecture role
  • Significant, well-rounded business acumen for the CPG industries; Significant depth in the focus business architecture domain and  technical architecture domain (infrastructure, applications, integration, information & data, cyber security, etc.)
  • Familiarity with information management practices, regulatory requirements and data privacy laws, especially those that uniquely effect the pharmaceutical industry
  • Knowledge of business ecosystems, SaaS, infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), SOA, APIs, ERP, microservices, event-driven IT and predictive analytics
  • Ability to define and communicate compelling, business-enabling technology vision and the business value of this vision, along with actionable roadmaps to achieve target state architecture across people, process, and technology dimensions.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in leading and influencing cross-functional teams. Able to gain buy-in and promote shared ownership of projects
  • Master of the art of change management through effective communication, planning, and execution
  • Ability to work with significant autonomy of decision-making and self-direction to drive leading business and IT outcomes while remaining aligned to the evolving Takeda Enterprise Architecture target state architecture
  • Ability to multi-task with a sense of urgency, while taking a rigorous, structured approach
  • Adept at developing meaningful “trusted advisor” relationships with EA’s business and technical stakeholders of all levels
  • Proven ability to work well with people from different disciplines and with varying degrees of business or technical knowledge
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly both in verbal and written forms to the all organizational levels
  • Exposure to agile ways of working, such as Scrum / SAFe and DevOps methodologies
  • Solid grasp of the strategic technologies McCormick needs to act on and operationalize in the next three to five years
  • Demonstrated ability to create and share relevant enabling architecture guidance or reference architectures in support of innovation

Base Salary: $121,900-$219,410


Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. This position is also eligible to participate in McCormick’s Incentive Bonus (MIB) Plan. In addition to a competitive compensation package, permanent employees of McCormick are eligible for our extensive Total Rewards programs that include:
