Job Summary

The Sr. Technical Business Analyst is a strategic leader within the Engineering/Product team, reporting to the VP of Engineering. This individual will play a critical role in bridging business objectives with technical solutions, driving organizational success through leadership, strategic insight, and effective collaboration. In addition to overseeing business analysis functions, the Sr. Technical Business Analyst will have the potential to manage a team, mentor junior analysts, and contribute to the growth and development of the organization.

The Sr. Technical Business Analyst will partner with stakeholders across all business units to understand their objectives, gather and refine requirements, and define the scope of projects or features. They will analyze and document complex business processes, create detailed requirement documents, and ensure proposed solutions meet business goals and adhere to regulatory standards. Furthermore, this individual will proactively identify risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and lead efforts to ensure adoption of solutions through training and stakeholder engagement.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in business intelligence, is skilled in aligning cross-functional teams, and has a proven track record of delivering impactful solutions. They are as an influential leader who can guide teams and drive strategic initiatives at both tactical and organizational levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic conversations with business and engineering teams to address reporting challenges, enhance business processes, and define high-impact initiatives
  • Manage, mentor, and guide junior business analysts, fostering their development and aligning team efforts with organizational goals
  • Drive project planning, scheduling, and monitoring to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and with high quality
  • Serve as the primary liaison between technical and non-technical teams, ensuring alignment, clarity, and consistent communication
  • Analyze complex business and reporting challenges and translate them into actionable technical solutions, including requirements definition, data modeling, dbt development, SQL analysis, and reporting design
  • Champion process improvements, organizational alignment, and strategic decision-making
  • Partner with Data Engineering, Analytics, and Finance teams to design, develop, test, and maintain dbt models that support operational, financial, and bank reporting requirements
  • Write, optimize, validate, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries used for regulatory, bank partner, executive, and operational reporting
  • Translate business and regulatory reporting requirements into scalable data models, metrics definitions, and reporting datasets while ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and auditability
  • Perform data analysis, reconciliation, and validation activities to ensure reporting outputs meet business, compliance, and banking partner requirements
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to establish data quality standards, testing frameworks, and documentation for reporting and analytics solutions

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • 6+ years of professional experience as a business analyst, with at least 2 years in a senior or leadership role, preferably in the fintech or financial services industry
  • Demonstrated experience managing and mentoring teams, with the ability to guide others and build high-performing teams
  • Deep understanding of financial products, services, and the regulatory landscape affecting the fintech industry
  • Expertise in data analytics, using tools to analyze financial data, market trends, and customer behavior, and translating findings into actionable strategies
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and foster collaboration across diverse teams
  • Strong hands-on experience writing and optimizing complex SQL queries for reporting, analytics, and data validation in large-scale data environments
  • Experience developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting dbt (Data Build Tool) models, including data transformations, testing, documentation, and lineage management
  • Proven ability to translate business, financial, and regulatory reporting requirements into technical specifications, data models, and reporting solutions
  • Experience working with data warehouses and modern analytics platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, BigQuery, or similar)
  • Familiarity with banking, lending, fintech, or regulatory reporting processes, including data reconciliation, audit controls, and reporting accuracy requirements
  • Experience performing root-cause analysis and resolving data quality issues across reporting and analytics workflows
