Remote Building Code Inspector information

What is a Remote Building Code Inspector?

A Remote Building Code Inspector is a professional who evaluates construction projects for compliance with building codes and regulations, but performs inspections virtually rather than in person. Using digital tools such as video calls, photographs, and specialized software, they review construction progress and completed work from a remote location. This approach allows for greater flexibility and efficiency, especially for projects in remote or hard-to-access areas. Remote inspectors typically communicate with onsite personnel to obtain necessary documentation and visuals to ensure all codes and safety standards are met.

What is the difference between Remote Building Code Inspector vs Remote Construction Inspector?

Industry UsageBuilding departments, code enforcement agenciesConstruction companies, project management firms

The Remote Building Code Inspector primarily focuses on ensuring building plans and projects comply with local codes through remote review and virtual inspections. In contrast, the Remote Construction Inspector may be involved in overseeing construction projects remotely, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. Both roles require similar certifications and are used within the building and construction industry, but their core responsibilities differ in scope and focus.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Building Code Inspector, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Building Code Inspector, you need in-depth knowledge of building codes, construction practices, and inspection procedures, typically backed by relevant certifications such as ICC or state licensure. Familiarity with virtual inspection technology, digital reporting tools, and project management software is crucial for remote work. Strong attention to detail, effective communication, and problem-solving abilities set outstanding inspectors apart. These skills and qualities ensure thorough, accurate inspections and compliance, even when working off-site, to maintain safety and regulatory standards.

How does a Remote Building Code Inspector effectively communicate and collaborate with on-site teams and clients?

Remote Building Code Inspectors rely heavily on digital tools to conduct inspections and maintain clear communication with on-site project managers, contractors, and property owners. Typically, they review digital documentation, photos, and live video feeds to assess compliance and provide feedback. Regular virtual meetings and written reports help address questions, clarify findings, and ensure all parties understand the next steps. Building strong relationships and setting clear expectations are key to overcoming the challenges of not being physically present at the inspection site.

Job description

Description

We are Surgence.

We are done accepting a healthcare supply chain that breaks when it's needed most. Surgence exists to keep healthcare alive in every community by transforming how the industry thinks, strategizes, and executes.

We are building more than software. We are building an industry operating hub - an orchestration layer above systems of record - where visibility becomes shared truth and insight becomes coordinated action across enterprises.

We believe fragmentation is the root cause of failure. Disconnected systems, teams, and decisions create blind spots, delay response, and drive waste - especially during disruption. Surgence exists to replace fragmentation with coordination.

As a team member at Surgence, you'll be signing up for a rocket ride where reinvention is constant. We move with urgency, embrace intensity, and prioritize outcomes over activity. Charging through the storm together, we will not be satisfied until reliable care is the default - everywhere.

Surgence is a cloud-based ecosystem committed to revolutionizing the healthcare supply chain. The platform serves as a comprehensive solution for providers, distributors and suppliers, ensuring seamless coordination, efficiency and visibility across the supply chain. Surgence integrates flexible connectivity and development, advanced analytics, alerts and workflow capabilities to enable proactive decision-making, risk mitigation and collaborative forecasting to advance the healthcare supply chain. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to lead the Customer Success team and play a pivotal role in the development of our groundbreaking supply chain technology platform.

We are seeking a full-time Forward Deployed Software Engineer in any Concordance location or fully remote. This position will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying production-grade solutions on Palantir Technologies Foundry in close collaboration with product, delivery, and customer stakeholders. This role operates at the intersection of data engineering, application development, and operational execution, transforming complex business workflows into scalable, sustainable, and user-adopted systems. This position is highly execution-focused and AI-enabled. The Forward Deployed Software Engineer is expected to leverage AI tools throughout the software development lifecycle including AI-assisted solution design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation to improve speed, quality, and overall effectiveness. The Forward Deployed Software Engineer works directly alongside business and operational leaders to understand processes, integrate data sources, and deliver solutions that support day-to-day operations.

Essential Functions
  • Design, build, and maintain end-to-end Foundry solutions, including:
    • Data ingestion and integration pipelines.
    • Ontology and semantic data models.
    • Foundry applications and user-facing workflows.
  • Work across the stack using Foundry-native tools to deliver solutions that are:
    • Production-ready
    • Secure and governed
    • Scalable and supportable
  • Integrate data from diverse source systems (APIs, files, databases, external partners)
    • Ensure data quality, reliability, and observability across pipelines.
    • Troubleshoot data and application issues in production environments.
  • Follow and uphold platform guardrails for:
    • Tenant isolation
    • RBAC and access controls
    • Data lineage and auditability
  • Treat "done" as release-ready, not just code complete.
  • Ensure solutions can be supported by downstream teams.
  • Collaborate with other FDEs, architects, and platform engineers to align on standards and patterns.
  • Document designs, data flows, and operational considerations.
  • Continuously grow Foundry, domain, and full-stack skills.
