This allows businesses to maintain accurate financial records without needing an in-house bookkeeper. Remote bookkeeping is popular with small businesses seeking flexibility and cost savings. The work is typically organized, detail-oriented, and requires strong communication skills.

Job description

About Us

Greenbrook Medical is building the new standard in primary care.

We deliver high-touch, relationship-based care through neighborhood clinics, grounded in a simple belief: every senior deserves the kind of care we would want for our own families. Our model prioritizes time with patients, strong care coordination, and a personalized approach that improves outcomes while lowering total cost of care.

We take full accountability for patient outcomes and overall cost of care, aligning clinical excellence with disciplined execution. That commitment shows up in our results, including a patient Net Promoter Score of 91, compared to 32 for typical healthcare organizations.

Rooted in Tampa Bay and partnered with Tampa General Hospital, we are entering an exciting phase of growth. Backed by strong unit economics, experienced operators, and a proven playbook, we are looking for builders and operators who want to help scale a healthcare platform designed to deliver better care, better coordination, and better outcomes for seniors.

About the Role

The Vice President of Finance will serve as the organization's senior financial leader, responsible for financial strategy, planning, operations, and performance management across the business. As our first financial leader, you'll help guide the organization through its next stage of scale and complexity. This role will play a critical part in elevating the Finance function from a tactical function to a strategic driver of the business—bringing financial rigor, leadership, and insight. The ideal leader will help build the foundation for a world-class finance organization that can support the company's ambitious trajectory.

This leader will guide the company through rapid growth, evolving risk-based contracts, and the complexities of value-based care economics. The VP of Finance will oversee all financial functions—FP&A, accounting, spend management, risk arrangements—and serve as a key thought partner to the CEO and executive team. As a VP of Finance, you'll report directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

Location: New York City strongly preferred (Hybrid). Open to remote candidates in FL, VA, NY, NJ MO or TX.

What You'll Do

Financial Leadership & Strategy

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and executive team on financial performance, growth planning, and operational decision-making.
  • Lead long-range financial planning, scenario modeling, and capital allocation strategies.
  • Partner directly with clinical, operations, and growth leaders to ensure financial sustainability within a full-risk, value-based care model.
  • Support fundraising activities through financial modeling, diligence support, and investor communications.

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Own the annual budgeting process, ongoing reforecasting, and long-term financial models.
  • Conduct deep FP&A analyses including: Budget vs. actual performance, CAC:LTV modeling, Churn and retention analysis, J-curve and cohort performance analysis
  • Provide strategic insights to guide market entry, capacity planning, and resource allocation.

Financial Operations

  • Oversee all financial operations, including outsourced HR/Payroll support responsible for payroll processing, benefits administration, state tax filings, corporate insurance, and related compliance.
  • Ensure robust internal controls, financial accuracy, and compliance with federal, state, and payer requirements.

Bookkeeping & Accounting Oversight

  • Manage the relationship with external bookkeeping and accounting partners.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end closes, reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Improve systems, processes, and automation across accounting and reporting.

Spend Management

  • Manage spend discipline across the organization, including budget adherence, hiring salary approvals, corporate credit card strategy, provisioning, rules, and controls, vendor onboarding and vendor management, receipt tracking and spend reporting
  • Lead cost-optimization initiatives and ensure responsible financial stewardship.

Risk-Based Contract Financial Management

  • Oversee financial operations related to full-risk and value-based care contracts.
  • Validate that capitation payments, stop-loss charges, and shared savings distributions are accurate.
  • Lead contestations and reconciliation processes with payers as needed.
  • Guide reserve fund allocation and risk corridor decision-making.
  • Partner with clinical and operational teams to understand drivers of performance and financial outcomes.

What Success Looks Like

  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Deliver accurate forecasts and budget vs. actual performance, ensuring financial targets are met.
  • Operational & Spend Management: Maintain disciplined spend, optimize cost efficiency, and ensure compliance with internal policies.
  • Risk-Based Contract Oversight: Ensure accurate capitation, stop-loss, and shared savings payments while managing reserve funds effectively.
  • Strategic Leadership: Provide actionable financial insights that drive growth, operational decisions, and strategic initiatives.
  • Compliance & Controls: Ensure all financial operations meet regulatory, CPOM, and value-based care requirements.

About You

You bring:

  • 10+ years of experience across FP&A, strategic finance, and accounting, with a track record of driving financial performance in complex organizations.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience building and developing high-performing finance teams while overseeing strategic financial operations.
  • Strong ability to translate financial analysis into clear business insights, operational priorities, and strategic decisions.
  • Experience operating in fast-paced, scaling environments with the ability to build scalable processes, financial discipline, and operational rigor.
  • Strong business judgment with the ability to balance financial risk, investment decisions, and long-term value creation.
  • Clear, confident communication skills with the ability to influence executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Collaborative leadership style with the ability to partner effectively across finance, clinical, and operational teams.
  • Experience with accounting systems, reporting tools, and/or ERP platforms.

You'll stand out if you:

  • Have experience in value-based care or risk-bearing healthcare models (e.g., Medicare Advantage, global capitation, ACO REACH), with a strong understanding of medical spend drivers, capitation economics, and healthcare performance metrics.
  • Have experience working within MSO-PC structures and navigating corporate practice of medicine (CPOM) considerations in a multi-entity healthcare environment.
  • Have built and scaled finance functions within a healthcare startup, growth-stage company, or rapidly expanding organization.
  • Have experience partnering with Boards, investors, and executive teams on financial strategy, reporting, and long-term planning.
  • Have a track record of using financial insights to improve operational performance and create measurable business impact.
