Part-Time Graphic Designer (Adobe Illustrator) — Contract / Per Diem (Remote)About Whiskey Library

Whiskey Library is a fast-growing whiskey company based in Washington, DC, best known for our Bourbon Mystery Box and a thriving community of whiskey enthusiasts. Beyond our subscription business, we develop and launch our own bourbon brands, merchandise, and marketing campaigns—creating a steady stream of creative design work across apparel, packaging, product labels, and digital marketing.

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Graphic Designer with expert-level Adobe Illustrator skills to join us on a part-time, contract, per-diem (as-needed) basis.

This is not a traditional part-time role with fixed weekly hours. Instead, you'll work on projects as they come in, with the flexibility to accept assignments based on your availability. We're looking for someone who produces high-quality work quickly, communicates well, and consistently delivers on deadlines.

What You'll Work On
  • Design apparel and merchandise, including t-shirts, hats, stickers, and other branded products

  • Create bottle labels, packaging, hang tags, inserts, and other print materials

  • Design promotional graphics for social media, email campaigns, web, and advertising

  • Adapt existing artwork into new formats and sizes

  • Build templates and maintain organized, editable production files

What We're Looking For
  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Illustrator (this is the primary tool for the role)

  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop

  • Excellent graphic design fundamentals, including typography, layout, color, and composition

  • A portfolio demonstrating professional-quality design work

  • Experience creating clean, editable, print-ready vector artwork

  • Understanding of print production, including bleeds, color modes, organized layers, and proper file preparation

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage deadlines independently

  • Comfortable working on an as-needed basis with varying project volume

Nice to Have
  • Experience designing apparel for screen printing or DTG production

  • Experience with packaging and label design, including dielines and specialty print finishes such as foil or embossing

  • Experience working with beverage, spirits, or consumer product brands

  • Ability to take a rough creative brief and develop polished concepts independently

Position Details
  • Employment Type: Contract / Freelance

  • Schedule: Part-time, per-diem (project-based)

  • Location: Remote

  • Hours: Flexible; workload varies depending on current projects

  • Compensation: Hourly, based on experience

How to Apply

Please include:

  • A portfolio highlighting apparel, merchandise, and/or packaging and label design work

  • Your hourly rate

  • Your typical turnaround time and availability

  • Tell us which piece in your portfolio is your favorite and why. We appreciate thoughtful responses and always review them.
