Senior Mechanical Engineer – Space & Avionics RF Packaging
Location: 100% Remote (Anywhere in the US)
 Job Type: Full-Time & Contract Options Available

Compensation: $135,000 – $160,000 / year + Comprehensive Benefits
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead the packaging and mechanical design of mission-critical RF systems for space and aerospace applications. In this role, you will drive key initiatives, including finalizing the mechanical design for an RF Switch Matrix and transitioning aircraft radio architectures into space-qualified designs built to withstand extreme environments.
This is an autonomous, high-impact role on a rapidly growing engineering team, with strong potential for assignment extensions and expanded program responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical design, thermal packaging, and structural integration for 3U VPX enclosure systems and circuit card assemblies (CCAs).
  • Adapt proven avionics radio hardware for space readiness, utilizing space-grade components and environmental survivability standards.
  • Collaborate with design drafters, systems engineers, and cross-functional teams from early architecture through final wrap-up.
  • Work independently with minimal mechanical oversight, driving designs to completion using Creo.
Qualifications
  • Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is strictly required due to program compliance.
  • Experience: 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in space hardware and/or military avionics.
  • Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience with 3U VPX form factors, CCA packaging, and RF mechanical/thermal design.
  • CAD Tools: Proficient in PTC Creo.
  • Self-Directed: Demonstrated ability to lead technical tasks independently without senior mechanical mentorship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience packaging CCAs integrating high-performance FPGAs and digital control boards.
  • Strong familiarity with space environmental testing, structural analysis, and radiation mitigation strategies.
