What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Blast Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Blast Engineer, you need a solid background in mining engineering, blasting techniques, and safety protocols, often supported by a relevant engineering degree and blasting certification. Familiarity with blast design software, remote detonation systems, and data analysis tools is typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are essential for managing complex projects remotely. These skills and qualities are crucial for ensuring safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible blasting operations from a distance.

How do Remote Blast Engineers typically collaborate with on-site teams to ensure safe and effective blasting operations?

Remote Blast Engineers frequently coordinate with on-site teams through detailed planning meetings, regular video calls, and real-time monitoring systems. They provide technical guidance on blast design, review environmental and safety data, and adjust plans based on feedback from field personnel. Strong communication skills are crucial, as remote engineers must ensure that instructions are clear and all safety protocols are understood and followed. Utilizing advanced software and remote sensors, they can troubleshoot issues and support on-site staff before, during, and after blasting events.

What is a Remote Blast Engineer?

Job description

Skeletons, lasers, tattoo buses - the Torq brand grabs attention like nothing else in cybersecurity. And we're growing like crazy, backed by Series D funding, 200% employee growth, and 300% revenue growth. Fueling Torq's momentum is our game-changing AI SOC platform, backed by a team and culture that makes Torq one of Forbes' Best Startup Employers in America, and a Business Insider 'startup to bet your career on'.
Life at Torq is all gas, no brakes. We're a team of relentless, collaborative go-getters pushing the boundaries of what's possible for security automation. Every role is an essential driver of Torq's success as the AI-native autonomous SecOps platform of choice for security teams across the Fortune 500.
We are looking for an experienced, hands on Senior Software Engineer to join our fast growing company and in a breakthrough stage where we build our dream team with the most passionate and professional people in the industry. Our team thinks differently and quickly, delivering high quality and unique code using the latest technologies and frameworks. We try new things outside of the mainstream, love to learn from each other, and have a blast while doing so!
What will you do?
  • Take part in all development aspects from design through production of a dynamic hybrid/cloud native product
  • Write high quality, testable and efficient code in Go and Typescript
  • Initiate and promote new ideas for continuous improvement of the product functionality
  • Work closely with other team members and mentor new team members

What should you bring to the table?
  • Significant real-world experience developing software for production systems
  • Extensive Can-Do attitude
  • Hands-on experience and proficiency in Go (preferred), Java, python or any other backend oriented language
  • Experience with Cloud infrastructure and services
  • Exposure and experience to CI/CD/DevOps, Kubernetes, Docker, and monitoring technologies
  • Ability to take initiative and scope work to deliver value iteratively, making meaningful design decisions, and driving work to completion
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing
  • Strong testing abilities. Consideration of both automated testing and monitoring to improve team efficiency and reliability of production services

If your experience is close but doesn't fulfill all requirements, please apply. Torq is building an outstanding company. To achieve our goals, we are focused on hiring great people with different backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences.
As an equal opportunity employer, we are committed to a team defined and empowered by diversity. We consider qualified applicants without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation age, marital status, veteran status or disability status.
By submitting your application, you acknowledge that Torq will process your personal data in accordance with Torq's Privacy Policy.
We build AI for a living, and we encourage candidates to use it to prep, research, and sharpen their best work. But we're hiring humans, not chatbots. We want the real you. Use AI to tighten your resume, prep for interviews, research Torq, and outline ideas for written responses. Show up as yourself for live interviews, final assessments (the voice, logic, and reasoning need to be yours), and anywhere we're evaluating how you think - not how you prompt.
Excited about our vision and ready to make an impact as we grow? We'd love to see what you can bring to the team.
