What Are Remote Biotech Jobs?

Remote biotech jobs include various virtual analytical and experiment design positions for universities, medical research centers, pharmaceutical companies, and biotechnology startups. Typically, in a work from home biotech job, you do not have significant laboratory duties because medical research equipment is expensive and must remain in a carefully regulated lab. Once experiments are completed in a lab, and data has been collected, work from home biotech specialists analyze the information and identify patterns. They then develop new technology to modify the genetics of living organisms, such as agricultural products and experimental medicines.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Biotech professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Biotech professional, you need a strong background in biology or biotechnology, analytical skills, and experience in laboratory research, often supported by a relevant degree such as a BSc, MSc, or PhD. Familiarity with bioinformatics tools, data analysis software, laboratory information management systems (LIMS), and sometimes certifications like GLP or GMP are commonly required. Excellent communication, time management, and self-motivation are crucial soft skills for collaborating with distributed teams and managing independent work. These abilities ensure effective research, data integrity, and seamless project coordination in a remote setting.

What are remote biotech jobs?

Remote biotech jobs are positions within the biotechnology industry that allow professionals to work from locations outside of traditional office or laboratory settings, often from home. These roles may include research, data analysis, regulatory affairs, project management, medical writing, and bioinformatics, among others. Advances in technology and the increasing digitization of biotech workflows have made it possible for many tasks to be completed remotely. Remote biotech jobs offer flexibility and can help companies access a wider talent pool, while employees benefit from improved work-life balance. However, some roles that require hands-on laboratory work may still need to be performed on-site.

How do remote biotech professionals typically collaborate with lab-based teams and ensure effective communication?

Remote biotech professionals often use a combination of digital collaboration tools, regular video meetings, and shared data platforms to stay closely connected with lab-based colleagues. They may participate in virtual experiments planning, data analysis sessions, and project updates to ensure alignment with on-site activities. Clear communication and well-defined protocols are crucial for remote team members to contribute effectively, address challenges promptly, and maintain productivity. Building strong relationships with in-person teams and proactively seeking feedback also play a key role in successful remote collaboration in the biotech industry.

Job description

The Field Reimbursement Manager (FRM), Endocrinology plays a critical role in ensuring that patients who need our therapies can access them, efficiently, reliably, and with the support they deserve.

This role serves as the subject matter expert on access and reimbursement for Korlym, Mifepristone AG, and Relacorilant, supporting healthcare providers (HCPs), field sales teams, specialty pharmacies (SPs), and our patient support HUB to resolve barriers to patient access. The FRM will deliver education, troubleshoot complex reimbursement challenges, and work collaboratively across functions to ensure successful initiation and continuation of therapy for appropriate patients.

FRMs are natural problem-solvers and relationship-builders who thrives in a dynamic, patient-centric environment. They bring deep knowledge of the access landscape and excel at navigating payer policies, benefits verifications, prior authorizations, and reimbursement and access logistics.

Responsibilities:

Support Patient Access & Pull-Through

  • Assist HCP offices with navigating reimbursement processes, including collection of missing information, conducting benefits investigations, prior authorizations, appeals, and product fulfillment through SPs
  • Work closely with the Corcept HUB to resolve specific patient case issues, including those related to delayed, cancelled, or discontinued enrollments
  • Facilitate patient access by coordinating with SPs, HUB case managers, payers, and other stakeholders

Educate & In-Service

  • Conduct in-services and educational sessions with HCP staff on the Corcept access pathway, patient support services, the HUB, and the Specialty Pharmacy network
  • Serve as the access and reimbursement resource for your territory, keeping stakeholders informed of evolving payer policies and access dynamics

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Clinical Sales Specialists to align on account strategy and provide insights into access-related challenges and opportunities
  • Participate in territory and national team calls, contributing local insights to shape strategy and support continuous improvement
  • Provide feedback to Market Access leadership and National Accounts Team on regional access trends, issues, and payer policy shifts

Territory Management

  • Balance in-field visits with virtual engagement and territory-level case management
  • Analyze territory data to identify access barriers, enrollment issues, or gaps in support, and develop action plans to address them
  • Track and support patients throughout the access journey, from enrollment to fulfillment and therapy continuation

Preferred Skills, Qualifications and Technical Proficiencies:

  • Deep understanding of the U.S. reimbursement environment, including specialty pharmacy distribution models
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to navigate complex patient access issues with professionalism and urgency
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information clearly
  • High degree of emotional intelligence and adaptability in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment
  • Proficient with MS Office, CRM platforms, and data analysis tools
  • Self-starter with strong time management and organizational skills
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively within assigned territory

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degreeย
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotech reimbursement, market access, patient services, or a related field
  • Proven experience working with SPs, HUBs, payers, and healthcare providers in a field-based capacity
  • Experience in rare disease or endocrinology therapeutic areas
  • Familiarity with Korlym or Relacorilant access pathwaysย
  • Bilingual (depending on region)ย

The pay range that the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position is $154,000 - $200,000; the pay ultimately offered may vary based on legitimate considerations, including geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education.
