Job description

REMOTE - US BASED
The Market Development Engineer - Consumer & Industrial is responsible for driving new customers, targets and opportunities in targeted markets with translation to other accounts or adjacent markets. Drives material specification at OEM's, tiers and molders. Develops working knowledge of market value chain. Provides technical knowledge (material selection, part & mold design) regarding performance and characteristics of Celanese products and offers technical support during and after the sales process.
Responsibilities:
  • Targets new customers in selected market space(s).
  • Generates opportunities for new business growth.
  • Manages internal new product development (NPD), testing, computer-aided engineering and external developments to drive projects to close.
  • Works with new customers to determine potential applications and best Celanese material solutions.
  • Works with Account Manager at existing customers to develop new applications and provide technical support as needed.
  • Provides technical support at existing customers as needed.
  • Manages Technical Exchanges at new and existing customers.

Qualifications:
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science or Technical Field.
  • 5 Years in plastics or related field. Technical and business or market development experience required.
  • Ability to work with customers to develop a tailored solution.
  • Develop deep customer and market knowledge. Draw connections to foresee future trends and develop opportunities to grow and innovate.
  • Ability to interact, influence and facilitate at several levels of the organization.
  • Must be willing to prospect for new customers/projects and develop strategies for identifying and targeting new customers and segment strategies.
  • Willingness to travel - 50%.

Desirable Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Application development experience.
  • Customer identification and prospecting.
  • Customer focus and urgency.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact, influence and facilitate at several levels of the organization.
  • Strong focus on results.
  • Good understanding of business interactions.
  • Specific knowledge of semicrystalline engineering resins and their applications.
