Job description

The Senior Product Development Engineer leads the design and development of new products and the optimization of existing products for customer applications. This role involves defining product specifications, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and providing technical expertise to ensure products meet customer requirements and industry standards. The Senior Engineer is also responsible for driving innovation and managing the product lifecycle from concept to launch.

Job Details
  • Position Type: Full-Time/Salaried (Exempt)
  • Pay Range: $75,000 - $85,000 per year (depending on skills and experience)
  • Work Location: Sterling, IL 61081 (Possible remote position depending on experience)
  • Travel: Up to 20%
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and test processes for producing prototypes and long-term production of products.
  • Test products and processes and evaluate results to identify/solve problems and estimate cost of resolutions.
  • Produce detailed designs and/or CAD drawings, acting as technical expert on products and processes.
  • Analyze and improve existing processes and products, including updating documentation.
  • Communicate the technical advantages of MFCS products and capabilities to customers.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with Customer Purchasing and Engineering departments to facilitate product meetings.
  • Develop, implement and test procedures needed to build products efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Manage the design of products and recommend production methods.
  • Ensure projects are achievable and align with procedural standards.
  • Develop new or existing product engineering activities for effectiveness.
  • Communicate with departments regarding budget, status, personnel or necessary resources for projects.
  • Review product reports for recommendations on quality improvements.
  • Work closely with Marketing to define product timeline, unique specifications or other details.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
