Senior Electrical Energy Engineer

The Opportunity

CEG Solutions is hiring a Senior Electrical Energy Engineer to lead the electrical design of our consulting and design-build projects for the built environment. This role shapes how CEG delivers large-scale, life-cycle-cost-focused transformations that create energy sustainability, efficiency, and resilience from renewable energy generation and battery energy storage to microgrids and central plant renovations.

You'll be a technical anchor on a multidisciplinary team, developing solutions customized to each client's needs and carrying them through the concept, design and construction delivery stages. Our projects revamp cooling, heating, and power infrastructure for hospitals, data centers, and other mission-critical facilities where reliability and performance genuinely matter.

What You'll Do

1) Design and Deliver Electrical Solutions

Design and support the delivery of electrical solutions for major infrastructure, including MEP system modernizations, central plant upgrades, on-site energy generation, energy efficiency initiatives, and resiliency improvements.

Support the technical development of new market opportunities, focusing on renewable energy, photovoltaics (PV), energy storage systems (BESS), and microgrids.

Support the life-cycle costing of technical concepts by providing and assisting with internal construction cost estimates.

2) Drive Quality and Coordination

Oversee and direct third-party consultants to achieve high-quality construction documents.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate design, construction, and operational strategies for energy projects.

Contribute to the successful development and implementation of energy solutions, including risk mitigation and cost management.

3) Mentor and Grow the Team

Contribute technical guidance to engineering team members.

Share knowledge with junior engineers and designers, supporting their growth in design principles, technical skills, and project execution we are committed to developing the next generation of engineers.

Ideal Candidate / Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. PE license strongly preferred, or the ability to obtain one within 12 months of hire (EIT/FE acceptable; advanced degree a plus).

5-10 years of experience in electrical engineering and energy systems, including renewable energy, microgrids, electrical distribution, and lighting.

Strong understanding of National Electric Code (NEC) and building codes.

Experience with energy efficiency design engineering, including technical analysis and writing.

A passion for energy efficiency, alternative energy, and sustainability.

Bonus Points for:

Experience with energy as a service or energy performance contract projects.

In-depth knowledge of the financial, technical, and political landscape of the energy industry.

Hybrid Work Model

Most of our team operates in a remote or hybrid workplace model that optimizes a combination of virtual and in-person interactions. We are intentional when we co-locate with each other and our clients for maximum impact while empowering our people to preserve the flexibility that they desire. The nature of our work managing client transformations will require some team members to be onsite at client locations, therefore the ability to travel is expected.

Our hybrid model benefits our people, and notably the environment. By reducing travel and commuting time, this aids in the reduction of our carbon footprint.

Wages + Salary

The salary range for this position is $145,000 to $175,000 annually. CEG Solutions LLC takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

Please note that this is a general estimate and does not incorporate any adjustments for geographic location. Typically, starting salaries are determined based on individual qualifications and experience, and may fall below the top end of the range.

In addition to your salary, you may qualify for our annual bonus program. This program is discretionary and awards, if any, are based on your performance as well as the company's overall success.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Performance of the job responsibilities will require the ability to (1) use tools and operate equipment in the field, (2) ascend/descend both exterior and interior ladders/stairs, and (3) move safely around an area under construction. The employee must also be able to easily communicate with clients, stakeholders, and other employees and observe various pieces of equipment in the field. The employee must occasionally move and/or transport up to 75 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works at the construction work site where the employee where risk of moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud. Personal protection equipment and required safety training will be provided by the employer.
