The Opportunity

The Strategic Account Manager is part of our Transfusion Medicine Business Unit. Transfusion Medicine enables provision of safe blood and plasma products around the world by supplying products, including screening tests, for transfusion-transmitted infectious diseases and other pathogens.

The Strategic Account Manager will be responsible for Blood Banks, Plasma Centers, National Reference Laboratory accounts in a multi-state territory and understand and address key customer needs at all levels within the customer organization, from CEO and Executive level. The ultimate goal is to increase Abbott's market share in a geographic area by securing existing business and by conversion of competitive systems. The SAM will act as Alinity s/Blood Bank specialist for the local key account representatives, district sales managers, and integrated health systems managers to assist in the prospecting to close process as requested.

What You'll Work On

  • Plans, schedules, executes multilevel sales calls to all levels within organizations, beginning with the Executive level, utilizing consultative selling skills
  • Identifies and builds relationships within the customer organization, maintaining consistently positive rapport.
  • Positions TM for current and future sales opportunities at Executive Level.
  • Protect and secure existing Abbott business in the largest billing TM accounts
  • Negotiate, implement and maintain reagent contracts and have the ability to communicate basic through advanced product features/benefits and clinical utility with appropriate use of literature and proof sources.
  • Demonstrate and discuss key benefits of Alinity s.
  • Increase market share and sales in the multi-state geographic area.
  • Coordinate internal TM resources to meet customer needs and grow their business.
  • Consult on systems implementation, workflow, and troubleshoot strategies

Territory

  • This is a remote field-based sales role
  • Travel expected at 30%, but willingness to travel up to 50%
  • Must be based in a metro city and within a major airport
  • Ideal locations are Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas but open within the US

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum 3 years of proven successful acquisition sales experience in diagnostic reagent and capital sales.
  • Strong technical sales/consultative approach
  • Familiar with the regulatory and quality issues that affect day to day operations in this workplace.
  • Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting IVDs and Biologics.
  • Familiar with Good Manufacturing Practices and Process Control.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lab supervisory/ management experience would be beneficial
  • Technical/science/Med Tech Degree
  • MBA would be beneficial

The base pay for this position is

$99,300.00 - $198,700.00
