This position functions as an Environmental Quality Analyst in the Central Intake Unit. The position conducts initial intake, triage, and assessment of potential environmental chemical exposures at sites of contamination in Michigan. The position is also responsible for ensuring timely assessment of site hazards and tracking of the subsequent response efforts to mitigate human exposures at sites of contamination.

This unit follows established protocols developed by the Section and Division, in accordance with the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registration (ATSDR) Cooperative Agreement guidance and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency risk assessment guidance. Staff in this position will work in cooperation with other division, section, and unit staff and managers in the Environmental Health Bureau

This position works cooperatively with federal, state, and local health and regulatory agencies to address concerns of human exposures to environmental contamination. This position may need to interact with the public, local, state, and federal officials via meetings, telephone conversations, e-mails, and field visits, responding to community health concerns and providing information to protect public health. OR Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major with at least 30 semester (45 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: biochemistry, biology, botany, chemistry, crop and soil science, ecology, engineering, environmental health, environmental science, environmental studies and sustainability, forest management, geology, meteorology, microbiology, physical geography, physics, remote sensing, resource development, resource management, toxicology, or zoology Experience Environmental Quality Analyst 9 - No specific type or amount is required.

Environmental Quality Analyst 10 - One year of professional experience equivalent to an Environmental Quality Analyst 9. Environmental Quality Analyst P11 - Two years of professional experience equivalent to an Environmental Quality Analyst including one year equivalent to an Environmental Quality Analyst 10. Based on operational needs and within established limits, remote work and alternate or hybrid work schedule requests for this position may be considered.

Selected candidates who have been approved to work remotely or a hybrid schedule must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview. Employees will be provided computers to perform state work.

Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely, employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including: o A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions. o A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
