Job description

We are seeking a driven, results-oriented Business Development Manager to expand and strengthen our partnerships with K-12 school districts and charter schools throughout San Diego and the surrounding region. This is a remote, field-based position for a highly motivated sales professional with a passion for improving student access to nutritious meals while driving meaningful business growth.

The ideal candidate has a proven history of selling into the K-12 education market, understands the school foodservice landscape, and excels at building long-term relationships with district decision-makers. Experience working through foodservice brokers is highly preferred, and experience with vended meal programs is a plus.

What You'll Do

  • Develop new business opportunities with K-12 school districts and charter schools throughout the assigned territory.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Superintendents, Business Officials, Child Nutrition Directors, Purchasing leaders, and other district stakeholders.
  • Re-engage former customers and identify opportunities to recover lost business.
  • Manage a consultative sales process from prospecting through contract execution while achieving territory growth objectives.
  • Partner with internal teams to develop customized meal solutions that increase student participation and meet district needs.
  • Support new program launches, including breakfast, lunch, supper, and other school nutrition initiatives.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, school events, trade shows, tastings, and customer engagement activities.
  • Maintain an active sales pipeline, accurately forecast opportunities, and deliver against established revenue goals.

What You Bring

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience, including experience working for a foodservice broker serving the K-12 market.
  • Required experience selling into the K-12 education market.
  • Demonstrated, measurable sales success within the K-12 school nutrition or foodservice industry.
  • Experience with vended meal programs is a strong plus.
  • Proven ability to build executive-level customer relationships and navigate complex district purchasing processes.
  • Strong prospecting, negotiation, presentation, and closing skills with a history of consistently achieving or exceeding sales goals.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote, field-based environment.
  • This is a field-based role responsible for covering the San Diego area and surrounding communities. Regular travel throughout the assigned territory is required. Reliable transportation is required, and mileage reimbursement is provided in accordance with company policy.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Base salary: $90,000–$110,000 annually, plus eligibility for an incentive bonus based on the achievement of sales targets.
