Remote Battery Manufacturing information

What is remote battery manufacturing?

Remote battery manufacturing refers to the process of producing batteries in a facility where operations, monitoring, or management can be conducted or supervised from a different location via digital tools and automation. This approach leverages advanced technologies such as IoT, robotics, and cloud-based monitoring systems to enable efficient production with minimal on-site staff. Remote battery manufacturing can improve operational efficiency, reduce labor costs, and increase safety by allowing experts to oversee multiple facilities from a central location. It is especially beneficial for maintaining production during disruptions or in areas with limited access to skilled labor.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in remote battery manufacturing?

To thrive in Remote Battery Manufacturing, you need a solid understanding of battery technologies, manufacturing processes, and quality control, often supported by a degree in engineering or a related technical field. Familiarity with manufacturing execution systems (MES), automation tools, and safety certifications like OSHA are typically required. Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and effective remote communication skills are essential to address issues and coordinate with distributed teams. These skills ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality battery production, even when working away from the primary manufacturing site.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in remote battery manufacturing, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in remote battery manufacturing often face challenges such as coordinating with distributed teams, maintaining quality control across different locations, and ensuring real-time communication with on-site staff. Addressing these challenges typically involves leveraging digital collaboration tools, implementing robust quality assurance protocols, and utilizing remote monitoring systems to ensure process consistency. Regular virtual meetings and clear documentation can also help bridge communication gaps, fostering a cohesive work environment even when team members are geographically dispersed.

What is the difference between Remote Battery Manufacturing vs Remote Battery Assembly?

AspectRemote Battery ManufacturingRemote Battery Assembly
CredentialsTechnical certifications, engineering backgroundTechnical skills, assembly training
Work EnvironmentManufacturing facilities, labsRemote, assembly lines, workshops
Industry UsageBattery production companies, R&DElectronics, automotive, consumer devices

Remote Battery Manufacturing involves overseeing the production process, quality control, and engineering aspects of battery creation, often requiring specialized certifications. Remote Battery Assembly focuses on assembling battery components, typically in a more hands-on or remote support role. Both roles are essential in the battery industry but differ mainly in scope and technical requirements.

Job description

Battery Recyclers of America Making Recycling Easy.
Full-time Remote (Texas-based ideal) $55,000-$65,000 + annual bonus
About Us
Battery Recyclers of America has been making recycling easy since 2009. We coordinate the transport of lithium-ion, lead-acid, and other batteries from businesses across the country to downstream recyclers - safely, compliantly, and on schedule. Our customers range from small local shops to Fortune 10 enterprises, and they rely on us not just to move material, but to tell them exactly how it needs to be packaged, labeled, and shipped under federal regulations. That advisory role is where we win, and it's the heart of this job.
The Role
This is not a generic freight coordination job. You will be the operational point person for battery shipments - part logistics coordinator, part customer-facing compliance advisor. When a customer has 40 pallets of lithium-ion batteries, or a single damaged EV pack, they need someone who can tell them how DOT and EPA rules apply to their situation and then make the shipment happen. That's you.
You'll manage shipments end to end: advising the customer on packaging and labeling, booking and routing carriers, coordinating specialized vendors (rigging, cranes, custom packaging for oversized or sensitive loads), and keeping every detail current in Salesforce.
What You'll Do
  • Advise customers on compliant packaging, marking, labeling, and shipping paper requirements for lithium-ion (UN3480/UN3481), lithium metal, lead-acid, and other battery chemistries - including damaged, defective, and recalled (DDR) batteries
  • Plan and route third-party LTL and FTL shipments nationwide; select and manage carriers and subcontractors
  • Coordinate specialized, high-touch logistics: rigging contractors, crane services, and custom packaging vendors for oversized or sensitive shipments
  • Prepare and review shipping documentation - bills of lading, hazmat shipping papers, and hazardous/universal waste manifests where applicable
  • Keep all shipment details, milestones, and customer communication current in Salesforce
  • Stay in continuous contact with customers, carriers, and recyclers so shipments run smoothly - and flag problems before they become problems
  • Help refine our SOPs as regulations and our business evolve
How We Work
These are the values we actually operate by - worth reading closely before you apply.
  • We deliver solutions, not quotes. Every customer situation is different. Understanding what someone actually needs - a Fortune 10 EV program or one damaged pack - comes before pricing it. You'll spend real time on custom problems, and you'll have the latitude to solve them.
  • Trust is earned, then re-earned every day. Do what you say you will do, every single time. Own the detail and communicate it proactively, before anyone has to ask. Do the right thing when it's inconvenient or hard - especially then.
  • 1 + 1 = 3. Carriers, recyclers, subcontractors, customers. We win when the ecosystem wins, and our success never comes at one party's expense. Nobody here protects their own number at a partner's cost.
  • Self-driven specialists, and mistakes are how we learn. The team is small and highly specialized. Nobody manages your calendar. When something goes wrong we're direct about it, we fix it, and we move - no blame theater.
  • Intentional, urgent evolution. We've grown fast and the process changes constantly. Embrace the messiness of evolving. The moment satisfaction sets in, growth dies.

Requirements
What We Require
  • Working knowledge of 49 CFR lithium battery shipping rules - Class 9 classification, UN3480/UN3481, packaging and lithium battery mark requirements, and the special provisions for damaged/defective/recalled batteries
  • Familiarity with EPA/RCRA handling requirements for batteries, including the universal waste rule and hazardous waste manifesting
  • 3+ years of logistics coordination experience, including LTL/FTL planning and routing
  • Experience with specialized or high-touch freight (rigging, cranes, custom packaging, white glove)
  • 2+ years of Salesforce experience
  • Current DOT hazmat employee training certification (49 CFR 172.704 general awareness / function-specific)
  • IATA DGR or IMDG experience for air/ocean battery shipments
  • Direct experience shipping lithium batteries for recycling, reverse logistics, or battery manufacturing
What Sets You Apart
  • Based in Texas - especially the Dallas-Fort Worth or Houston area - though we're also open to candidates elsewhere in the United States with strong hazmat and battery shipping experience

Benefits
Compensation & Benefits
  • 100% company-paid employee health benefits
  • Paid time off
  • Company-provided computer and phone
  • Thorough onboarding on our internal systems, then real autonomy - manage your own workflow as long as you hit your metrics
  • A growing company where the person who masters lithium logistics becomes hard to replace
