Remote Battery Development information

What is remote battery development?

A Remote Battery Development job involves designing, testing, and improving battery technologies while working from a remote location. Professionals in this field may focus on battery chemistry, performance optimization, safety features, and integration into electronic devices or vehicles. They often collaborate with engineers and researchers using digital communication tools, and may be involved in simulation, modeling, and analyzing battery performance data. This role is critical for advancing energy storage solutions in industries such as electric vehicles, consumer electronics, and renewable energy. Remote work in this field allows experts to contribute from anywhere, offering flexibility while supporting innovation.

How do remote battery development teams typically collaborate to ensure project success?

Remote battery development teams rely heavily on digital collaboration tools and regular virtual meetings to coordinate project milestones, share technical updates, and address challenges. Team members, often spread across different locations and time zones, use platforms like Slack, Zoom, and shared project management software to stay aligned. Clear documentation and open communication are essential to ensure everyone is on the same page regarding design changes, testing results, and safety compliance. Collaborating remotely also means a strong emphasis on self-motivation and proactive problem-solving, as face-to-face troubleshooting is limited.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote battery development engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Battery Development Engineer, you need a strong background in electrochemistry, materials science, and battery design, often supported by a degree in engineering or a related field. Experience with simulation software, battery management systems (BMS), and relevant certifications like Six Sigma or PMP is highly valued. Strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication, and self-motivation are essential soft skills for collaborating remotely and driving innovation. These skills and qualities are crucial for developing safe, efficient batteries and ensuring project success in a dynamic, distributed work environment.

Job description

Every day, we get opportunities to make a positive impact - on our colleagues, partners, customers and society. Together, we're pioneering the solutions of the future and unlocking the full potential of precious resources. Trusted to act on initiative, we challenge conventional thinking to develop world-leading technologies that inspire progress in vital areas, including energy, food, water and shipping.

As we push forward, the innovative, open spirit that fuels our 140-year-old start-up culture and rapid growth also drives our personal growth. So, as we shape a more resourceful, less wasteful world, we build our careers too.

About the job

We're seeking a curious, collaborative, and self-motivated Battery Value Chain Sales Manager to help drive growth across the clean technology and sustainability sectors that are enabling the energy transition. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and expanding business opportunities for Alfa Laval's Energy Division within the Battery Value Chain (BVC), including the Critical Minerals market across the United States.

As a key commercial leader, you will identify and pursue strategic growth opportunities, build strong relationships with customers and industry stakeholders, and position Alfa Laval's technologies as trusted solutions within rapidly evolving clean energy markets. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across product management, applications, service, sales, and marketing to maximize business impact and deliver strong customer outcomes.

This role can be based in Houston, TX or Richmond, VA (hybrid) or Remote, and requires approximately 40-50% travel.

At Alfa Laval, we pride ourselves on creating an inclusive and dynamic workplace that values diverse perspectives and experiences. While we typically welcome applicants from all locations, currently, we are prioritizing candidates who reside in the US or have an established presence in the area.

As a part of the team, you will:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales and business development strategies to drive growth across the Battery Value Chain and Critical Minerals markets.

  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities through market research, prospecting, lead generation, and customer engagement.

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key customers, industry stakeholders, and strategic partners.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to customize technical and commercial solutions that meet customer needs and maximize Alfa Laval's opportunity potential.

  • Independently generate and manage a robust pipeline of leads and opportunities aligned with strategic business objectives.

  • Analyze market trends, competitive activities, and customer purchasing behavior to develop targeted go-to-market strategies.

  • Utilize CRM tools to capture, track, and manage leads, opportunities, and project data while providing visibility into business performance.

  • Partner with Marketing to increase awareness of Alfa Laval technologies through industry events, conferences, digital campaigns, and direct customer interactions.

  • Develop product, application, and market expertise to effectively communicate the value and benefits of Alfa Laval's solutions.

  • Prepare and deliver customer presentations, proposals, and commercial negotiations that support sales growth and profitability objectives.

  • Work closely with regional and global stakeholders, including Product & Application teams, Service, Air Heat Exchanger teams, and European business units to advance strategic opportunities.

  • Support the organization's growth objectives by driving new customer acquisition, expanding market presence, and delivering sustainable business results.

We care about diversity, inclusion and equity in our recruitment processes. We also believe behavioral traits can provide important insights into a candidate's fit to a role. To help us achieve this we apply Pymetrics assessments, and upon application you will be invited to play the assessment games.

What you know:

You have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, a technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, and:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales, business development, or commercial roles within the industrial equipment market.

  • Proven ability to identify, develop, and close complex business opportunities.

  • Strong commercial acumen with experience developing sales strategies and executing growth initiatives.

  • Demonstrated success in building customer relationships and influencing key stakeholders.

  • Experience utilizing CRM platforms to manage opportunities, pipeline development, and business reporting.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate market data and translate insights into business actions.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.

  • Highly motivated, curious, and customer-focused with a positive attitude and growth mindset.

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities while developing and executing long-term strategic plans.

  • Strong ownership mindset with a commitment to accountability and results.

  • Experience navigating change and driving business growth in evolving markets.

  • Knowledge of heat exchanger technologies is preferred.
