Job description

Position Overview

The Chief Financial Officer is a key member of Peptilogics' executive leadership team, accountable for all financial, accounting, treasury, and investor-relations activities. This is a lean, highly collaborative team, so the CFO must balance strategy with selective hands-on execution, knowing where to lean in personally and where to empower the team or bring in outside resources. The CFO will drive the company's capitalization strategy and scale its financial operations, shaping the systems, people, and processes that carry Peptilogics from late-stage development toward commercial growth. The role frequently leads transactions, including M&A, licensing, and strategic partnerships, and works closely with the CEO, senior leadership, and Board in a fast-moving, innovative environment.

Essential Functions

  • Lead all financial, accounting, treasury, and investor-relations activities with strong financial discipline and transparency
  • Develop and execute a financing strategy aligned with Peptilogics' growth and commercialization plans; drive capital formation and fundraising in partnership with the CEO
  • Oversee financial planning, reporting, tax compliance, and internal controls to meet evolving regulatory and stakeholder requirements
  • Build scalable financial operations to support pharmaceutical R&D, clinical development, and future commercial activity, including working-capital management, cost optimization, and cash forecasting
  • Lead development and management of annual corporate and departmental budgets
  • Oversee audit preparation and ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial audits
  • Manage equity administration, including stock-option accounting and reporting
  • Coordinate with insurance providers to optimize risk-management coverage
  • Create and run a cadence of investor and Board communications, and help target and engage prospective new investors
  • Lead transactions including M&A, licensing, and strategic partnerships, partnering with business development to evaluate and execute revenue opportunities
  • Provide financial leadership to guide long-range planning and cross-functional growth initiatives
  • Collaborate with the CEO, senior leadership, and Board on corporate strategy
  • Support Legal, Compliance, and People teams on financial and regulatory matters
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Deep expertise in Life Science corporate financial strategy, planning, and capital management
  • Strong track record in fundraising across private and public capital markets, and in investor relations
  • Proven track record of transactions including mergers, acquisitions, licensing, IPOs, and strategic exits
  • Advanced knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, compliance, and financial reporting
  • Experience building scalable systems, processes, and teams in a high-growth environment
  • Excellent analytical, strategic-thinking, and problem-solving abilities
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong ethical judgment, professionalism, and discretion
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field required; MBA, CPA, or equivalent advanced credential preferred
  • 10+ years of financial leadership experience in life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical companies, including in clinical-stage organizations

Desirable Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience supporting a biotech startup through late-stage clinical development and early commercialization
  • Experience with top-tier investment banks and analysts across MedTech and Biopharma
  • Familiarity with financing structures common to venture-backed biotech, including non-dilutive mechanisms and grants
  • Track record preparing organizations for public-company-level readiness (governance, reporting, controls)
  • Strong orthopedic-industry relationships with potential strategic partners
