Job description

Remote position with occasional travel to Fort Meade, MD

Active Top Secret clearance required for consideration

Our client is the AI-native proactive security company behind their AI platform, trusted by 4 of the Fortune 10 to autonomously find, fix, and verify exploitable attack surfaces. Founded by former U.S. Special Operations cyber operators, startup engineers, and cybersecurity practitioners, we are redefining how organizations validate and strengthen their defenses.

Role Overview

We're looking for a backend engineer to own the data pipelines that power our security intelligence platform — ingesting, transforming, and delivering high-fidelity signals at scale. Your work will directly fuel their platform's ability to surface exploitable vulnerabilities and attack paths for the world's most security-conscious organizations.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines that process security telemetry, vulnerability data, and pentest results from [Platform] operations
  • Architect data ingestion systems capable of handling high-throughput, semi-structured security event data from heterogeneous sources
  • Develop transformation layers that normalize, enrich, and correlate raw security findings into actionable intelligence
  • Collaborate with security research and product teams to surface new data signals, attack path metrics, and risk indicators
  • Build and maintain data quality frameworks, including schema validation, anomaly detection, and lineage tracking
  • Optimize pipeline performance, reliability, and cost efficiency across cloud-native infrastructure
  • Contribute to a data platform that supports ML model training, detection rule development, and customer-facing analytics
  • Own observability for data pipelines — alerting, SLAs, on-call, and incident response

Required Experience

  • 5+ years backend engineering experience, with 2+ years focused on data engineering or ETL systems
  • Strong proficiency in Python and/or Go for pipeline development
  • Experience with distributed data processing frameworks (Spark, Flink, or equivalent)
  • Solid understanding of relational and columnar databases (PostgreSQL, Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake)
  • Hands-on experience with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, Dagster)
  • Familiarity with streaming systems (Kafka, Kinesis, Pub/Sub)
  • Cloud platform experience — AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup with ambiguous requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience processing security or network telemetry data (SIEM, EDR, vulnerability scanners)
  • Background in offensive security, penetration testing tooling, or cybersecurity platforms
  • Familiarity with graph data models for attack path analysis
  • Experience with dbt for data transformation and testing
  • Exposure to ML data pipelines and feature engineering workflows
  • Prior work at a security-focused startup or government/defense contractor
  • U.S. security clearance (or eligibility) is a plus

Core Tech Stack

Python · Go · Apache Kafka · Apache Spark · Airflow · PostgreSQL · Snowflake · dbt · AWS · Kubernetes · Docker · Terraform · Elasticsearch · GraphQL

What We Offer

  • Mission-driven work — your pipelines directly power autonomous attack simulations protecting Fortune 10 companies, banks, and critical infrastructure
  • Competitive market-rate salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)
  • Fully remote culture with flexible hours — we hire the best regardless of geography
  • Work alongside ex-JSOC operators, Splunk engineers, and top-tier security practitioners who ship fast and think deep
